Vinomofo Wine Deals

Any idea what the VIM WA Cabernet blend is? I'm thinking Churchview Bartondale

Bartondale only has 95 points and Churchview doesn't have 5 red stars.

The hyperbole of the write-up makes me think it could be one of the big names like Vasse Felix, Cullen or Moss Wood but I'm not very familiar with the WA wineries.

Not read the blurb or done any research, but the Woodlands blend has been doing the rounds for a few weeks now. Could it be that?

I'll be astounded if it is Woodlands.
They are relative newcomers to Margaret River, don't fit the "royalty" tag just yet.

My guess is not from Margaret River.

[Warning: my opinion below is based in the unconfirmed assumption this is the Houghton CW Ferguson 12]

Thanks to all above who have narrowed it down. I might eat my hat here - but I'm out. If a premium wine is going at such a good price, I do some more digging, especially when it's a concealed deal.

Vivino has 10 ratings at an average of 4.2. Sounds good, but as AC has pointed out on another thread. That average is across vintages. So when you drill down, those that tried it were citing an amazing nose, but an underwhelming palate that didn't match. Cellar Tracker has one score of 92, and they said it was their least favourite of the premiums tried at cellar door.

If I hadn't blown my monthly budget in the first two days, I would probably jump on the basis of the descriptions and pedigree. But there will be better deals for me to go over budget ...!

Yes after a little digging I have decided not to purchase...I still have two cases of Westward We Went, 3 bottles for the price of 1 of these ;) First bub on the way, need to budget.

The 4.2 (from 10 ratings) is for the 2012 vintage. It's just that the reviews seem a mishmash of all vintages.

My opinion, for a similar price, grab the Glenlofty Shiraz Viognier that's been put back online, I've ended up with two cases of this, and it is far more drinkable now that the think outside the circle.

For those of you who expressed interest in the 2013 Glenlofty Shiraz Viognier, mine arrived yesterday, so I cracked a bottle tonight. Here are my tasting notes:

A lifted floral bouquet thanks to the Viognier. Luscious plumb and cherry fruit give a concentrated and juicy mouthfeel. Mild peppery spice, fine graphite and a hint of old leather provide some complexity and a long finish. Powdery dry tannins and bright acidity hint at good cellaring potential. A very nice little quaffer, very easy drinking. Great value at $8.90 a bottle.

Scored a 4.0 in Vivino (I'm guessing about a 3.4 on the Wozza scale :)), and an 89 in CellarTracker.

Having our first bottle of the Maverick Twins GSM 2014 that we got about a month ago based on recommendations here - excellent value at around $10 a bottle incl. delivery. Cheers!

I know what he's talking about with regard to the pepper, but not a problem for me, especially with a nice piece of cheese. :)
