Vinomofo Wine Deals

Boom on the Capel Vale for me. Free delivery tipped me over.

Don't really need much more as I am heading out tomorrow to Mudgee for a weekend of pre-easter wine and cheese.

oh gosh, Santa & D'Sas are nailing the prosecco. it may be because it's sitting at 11.5% and goes down like cider but the Little helper is an amazing wine for knocking off work after a long hot day.

It's prosecco so there's nothing fancy in the bottle but when it come up at >$10 its a beautiful little number for those long hot lazy days.

CM rated it a 94 on TWF. Bought a case last night after reading his review. Boom!

His review:
Every now and then a Gundagai shiraz comes all that really turns the tucker box on its head.

This is a ripper. I’d buy a box of it in a heartbeat. It’s savoury, fruity, splashed with coffeed oak and super fun to drink. It has tannin too, fine and strong, though the juiciness of the flavours keeps the momentum rollicking along. One of those ‘spot on’ wines. Should I rate it higher? Probably.

You beauty! Was waiting on a decent review of this but weakened last week and ordered it anyway. Was expecting something good, but this sounds a little bit exciting. Thanks.

Steady...could you give us your enhanced review of the Gundagai shiraz, namely compared to your recent tastings....

I absolutely loved it - it would be one of the best purchases I have made from the FO. It had juicy fruit and silky tannin balanced well with just enough acidity, all in very balanced and immensely drinkable right now, and really suits my tastes - as always YMMV. I thought it was a similar wine/style to the Mother Vine but three or more times better at less than half the price. I have no experience yet regarding how wines age and qualities to look out for - with that in mind I think it has been made in a drink now or next few years style rather than cellar for 8-10 years. I would love to hear opinions from people with some knowledge in this area.

It was almost a wow wine to me - I decided wow by the end of the 2nd glass as opposed to the first sip if that makes sense. Price wise it is a 100% wow in my book - I'm struggling not to buy another case but my budget is committed for the upcoming wine tour (if I keep telling myself this over and over maybe I wont go BOOM  )

As you say beefarmer - ridiculous

My only bottle was enjoyed last Friday, and it was a hot night. Twas also the second wine of the night, after a lovely pinot. I do remember that my overall description of this wine, in one word, was 'refined'.
As I mentioned on this forum when this one popped up on VM as a BM deal, it's older sibling was a blinder of a wine, and this will be right up there. This is an easy cellarer, and could even go 20. Not all new vintages of wine will live upto the splendour of their older versions, but this Hungerford Hill Shiraz is damn good.

Now, I need help here. Who is CM from TWF who reviewed this one and liked it?

Yes, Steady this is definitely another of those stunners from the Fo that gets everything right and is lifted into rare air.

OK team, it might be time we all went a bit hush about this wine... ;)

It comes and goes like most Fo black market wines. I missed it first up and sweated for nearly two weeks before it reappeared.

Given its been rated now, there is a small chance that VM might raise the price as they did with the 3 Oceans Shiraz. Hoping that they don't.

What is interesting is Campbell Mattinson's comments in the discussion around this wine on the Front/Wineosphere. When someone posted that it was on Vinomofo, he replied, Wow. It's gone straight to video. I thought it was still pre release.

So, why would Hungerford Hill have done this? They now have a wine with a very favourable review from a highly credible reviewer on their hands and they've already bin ended (presumably) a reasonable proportion of their stock of this wine. Hard to understand.

My guess is that they put it out there on VM, CM reviewed it, and now they probably realise their mistake. My view is that we therefore probably won't see it again on VM.

All this talk of Gundagai and I have already stashed mine away with a 'DO NOT DRINK FOR 6 MONTHS' sticker on it...may have to grab another bottle out and give it a proper taste this weekend.

On a side note...my first Langtons delivery is on its way. I couldn't resist chasing the Hares.
