Vinomofo Wine Deals

I have quaffed my way through two boxes of Atlas 32, it's a bit earth gritty, but I like it a lot.
Of course the 2013 may be quite different, and there is usually a reason when the price drops.
Hmmmmmmmm……...

Thanks - did you confirm with the winery its identity? It seems Jeanneret tends to have high ABV.

I would have liked to have tried the Atlas.

Just asked for the abv of the wine by name. (don't want to get caught up in winery/VM relations). I reckon its 99% the wine I just wish there were some reviews out there. Hopefully it appears again or hangs on for a while till some mof_s review. Even if I know the ID of a wine I tend to let someone else spring it first other than me then confirm and add extra info if i can. Just being careful. I was thinking about going cryptic like "ride the dark horse west young man and go directly to the wine" but I'm so over all that. If it was in a 6 pack I would maybe bite but not 12. I don't mind missing out on wines as there are plenty in the pipeline so don't click buy that easily.

Good quaffer at this price. I prefer the 2012 shiraz on offer today to the 2012 SV.

Thanks for heads up on this one coming back. I opened one on Sunday morning, aerated and decanted and it went down very well with Sunday evening's Osso Bucco. I've just grabbed some more in the vain hope I'll put some down before we drink it all.

So had a bottle of the Golden Lion (RRP $50ish)between friends and now onto the Lindeman's St George, obviously comparing apples to oranges here, but my own humble subjective opinion is that the St George is three times the wine that the Golden Lion is. Its almost (but not quite) as good as the Hentley Farm Beauty Shiraz I had yesterday...

Apples and oranges? From memory they were close to the same price from vinomofo. Golden lion $25. St George $31.50.

More thinking Shiraz vs Cab Sav, but you are right, from a purchasing consumer perspective, they are comparable and to be honest with you the St George is better and its not even close.

Im sure the St George is great. It's a genuine $60 bottle. I got several cases at the beginning of the year and can't wait until 2025 when I get to taste them.

I foolishly hit the 2012 St George 6 pack I had and every sip was like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It had so much potential but I was hooked on the seductive oak and couldn't see beyond the Riedel "O"

$15 actually, so the St George is over 100% more expensive.
No the Golden Lion is over 100 % less expensive. Grasshopper, you musta Focus. Golden Lion or Crouching Tiger. Your decision could determine the future of VinFu. You Musta Focus. The Glass is not half full or half empty. The Glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

For future reference if it comes up again - this 2011 GSM is actually The Shortlist (McGuigan)

https://www.mcguiganwines.com.au/product/218

I tried this tonight after some Glenlofty Shiraz, the first few sips were ordinary but after a little time to adjust from the Shiraz, I am happy enough with it. At the price paid I would even be tempted to buy another case if it came up again.

I thought it was pretty average... might give 1 more bottle a go... and make sure I give it some time to open up before drinking...

Does anybody have any suspects for the Marg Cab/Merlot today on the Fo. https://vinomofo.com/deals/red-wine/mof_-secret-deal-cabernet-merlot-2012-fa0004b1 I was thinking Flametree or Thompson Estate. The blurb says "Margs to a T" .Maybe a veiled reference to Thompson estate but that had Cabernet Franc component I think. Do VM ever give differing info on components of the wine to veil its identity ?

My money's on the Thompson Estate simply because the price matches.

Apparently the Thompson Estate is 10% Franc, but JH puts it in the Cabernet Merlot section. Points, alcohol and price match. Thompson Estate sold by VM before, so I think you have a winner there.
