Vinomofo Wine Deals

Anontmouse,

Can you elaborate on why Kangarilla rd ? I can only find Blanch point 2012 @ $45 and a Devils Whisker 2013 @ $40.

Kangarilla Rd Blanch Point Formation 2013 vintage is $45 and got 95 points
Kangarilla Rd Alluvia Fans 2013 is also $45 and also got 95pts
However both are 14.5% according to JH

Another possibility would be Vinrock Block 18 - that's $45 and 95pts, but also a 14.5%

The other $45 McLaren Vale shiraz that got 95pts is Cradle of Hills, but that hasn't been a VM offering before, unlike Kangarilla & Vinrock. Lastly Vinrock isn't a 5 star winery, so that's ruled out. Leaving either of the two Kangarilla's as my guess - the alcohol discrepancy being a possible issue.

You are right in Kangarilla Rd Alluvia Fans 2013 with the "solutions/clue/giveaway" from Redbigot.
Can't find the 2013 vintage from Kangarilla though. Is it the case of straight from winery to vinomofo?

And 10 minutes after you posted that here, mini2 has posted it on OzB. If you want it, might need to buy quickly.

On that topic, OzB admins are reviewing their VM referral policy, so hopefully some good will come of that soon.

I have had a few Elena Brooks wines and they have all been very good.

2013 Sister's Run Epiphany McLaren Vale Shiraz just won a Platinum Medal at the Critics Challenge International Wine Competition 2015 in the USA. It was awarded 95 Points and here is what judge Rich Cook had to say: "A big, bold expression of Shiraz that shows lots of oak, but it's very tasty oak that compliments vibrant blackberry, tar and mint flavors. There's a citric vibe to the acidity that keeps...

I read this in the morning, so the impulse buy. At $13.25 a bott, it's the real deal. Nice body, nice dark fruit, oaky but not too much, very enjoyable, if a little dry on the finish. It's normally about $18-$20, but punches above its weight. Very different, as expected considering the terroir to a Barossan.

Thanks beefarmer for your recommendation! As I like Dandelion wines so I trust Elena Brooks, I bought a case of six of 2013 Sister's Run Epiphany McLaren Vale Shiraz and they are good. My friend picked the wine up for me using his Coles team member card so the final cost per bottle is $11.40! Very good deal.

Just noticed that it's coming upon 2 years since this thread was started. Thanks to DrSammyLee for starting it.

Coincidentally I had a bottle of the 2010 Lunatiq mentioned in this thread last night. Drinking very well with 5+ years on it at least.

A double Coincidence I had Lunatiq 2010 over last 2 nights originally got 12 under cork then 12 under screw which I put away. 2 years ago it was very vanilla oak and last night after 2 nights open it wasn't till the last half glass that the fruit was "wow". the first night it was a little tangy or acidy I guess but it must have a long life ahead of it at least another 10 at a guess.

EDIT. On recollection the first lot offered by VM was under screw and as yet unrated. The second offer was under cork. After having the first 1 under screw over last 2 nights its amazing how less developed it was than the ones under cork. i had the last cork 1 at start of winter and recall it probably had 3 years left in it.

Any thoughts on the Paxton MV Shiraz from anyone who may have tried it?

Disclaimer: I did search first, didn't find anything relating to it ;)

EDIT: Never mind, did a bit of googling. A few other places rated it around 90, so I might not worry about it.

Just for info - I used to buy a bit of this through wineiq (now taken over by Langtons) at around $12-13/bottle. Was good value easy/early drinking quaffer at that price. $17 would still be ok nowadays - except that Vinomofo has changed my price-point calibration! Twenty years ago I wanted the sub-$10 quaffer and now it's finally here - so $17 seems steep! The Paxton Jones Block is a more serious wine and nice drinking after a few years.

can you give us a little winedrinkers review about the lunatiq as many are fond of it and I am yet to try. possibly in comparison to a neighbour as well. cheers

And for others buying some, I encountered a problem with trying to order multiple cases.

I think they are trying to limit the number people can purchase. You can't add more than 1 case to your order.

I had to make separate orders and pay for separate postage on each. These additional orders may be cancelled. But I can't see anything about a limit on these.

Got 1 x 'your vino is on its way' message today. Given I used separate addresses for the 4 orders, I'm not hopeful that I'll get the 4 cases that I've ordered.
