Vinomofo Wine Deals

G'day VM fans. I'm new to the AFF forums, but my google research kept leading me here. Therefore I considered it about time I registered and got more involved.

I'm reading with interest some of the Shelmerdene Merindoc comments as I purchased some 2008 last year from VM and for a Shiraz, it was a bit weird and underwhelming to be honest, especially for such a highly praised wine. I have since read a few reviews that have also hinted at it's peculiarities.

Anyhow, great to be on-board.

THE CHALMERS ARTURO shiraz certainly fits in the weird, funky, purple-tasting category but it is still drinkable. variety is not too bad sometimes, provided it is imbibable.

no guesses for the new iconic shiraz? I'll take a wild guess. Wolf glass grey label shiraz? Only able to match RRP, Jeremy Oliver 94 points and lots of gold modals. Alc doesn't seem to match though.

Yes I thought the Grey Label from Wolf Blass also...I would purchase but already gone over this months budget :(

Hope you're right. I'm currently in the West Indies for the cricket and don't have time to do all the checking myself.

Just wondering what people think about the 2010 Hannah's Swing Shiraz from a while ago. I've opened (and imbibed) a couple of bottles and find it to be a very enjoyable wine, but feel that it may need to be consumed sooner rather than later. I can't see any guidance on the FG website in this regard. Opinions?

I would think drinking between 2015-2020 would be optimal, just my opinion though. I would of thought under ideal storage conditions it would last a longer than that.

Also some other interesting wines, including their secret deal equivalents

96 point halliday vintage- see review below

Deep crimson-purple; has more depth and complexity than recent vintages, and has relished its 18-month sojourn in new and used French oak; the flavours are a classic mix of blackcurrant and a twist of black olive, the tannins fine and polished. A long life ahead.

Agree, all the wines made by Tash Mooney at Fox Gordon I tried (including Eight Uncles 2012, King Louis 2012 and Hannah's Swing 2010) are not supposed to be long haul. At most medium cellar term.

opened the adelaide winemakers quorum 2000 and initially, on the nose, it seemed very closed but after a small quarter glass taste, you know that it has that quality that you would expect from a vinomofo red that normally retails for over fifty.... the initial excitement of tasting something new always leads to expectations that are met or unmet...you know the apprehension we all experience with a new wine, hoping the nose is good as a starter. Well it is.....so i decanted it into my beer jug allowing for maximum aeration, and after about one hour, another sampler.... only half a glass, but thankfully you can taste the quality. this is supposed to be over fifty clams normally, so expectations are naturally high..... it's still damn good.....the fruit is beggining to come out but it is mellow, well made, and full flavoured with a few years behind it. I was expecting this wine to be similiar to the reviews a read about the 2009...a smoky, overtly american wooded wine, but it isn't. Tomorrow, a have another go with a mate, but it's a winner so far.

I agree wholeheartedly. I think the Quorum is better than the dearer Old Gentlemen made by the same people.

Good thing the Hannah's Swing is good drinking now, I don't plan on keeping it long.

Regarding Hannah's Swing, Halliday has it as drink by 2030 and Cellar Tracker drink between 2020-2025.
I only have a couple of bottles left but I'm quite happy to leave them for a while yet.

I assume you mean winemarket

Hi all, first time poster, but I've been grateful for your wisdom over the last few months!

Any ideas on the Black Market tempranillo listed today? Barossa, 2013, 5 star winery, 13.8%.

Edit: facts and figure match up with Quattro Mano Raging Bull, which has been here before ...

Also interested in the 2011 Pemberton charddie down from $33 to $9.90, if anyone can help pleeese.

Sold out...I purchased without knowing, which is unusual for me. Under ten, 2011 was a good year in the region, 5 star winery, tasting notes sound decent....sold ;)
