Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

I'm asking just in case the side effects come too soon.

Side effects? What side effects?

Apply science.

I've had a squillion vaccinations over the years with nary a tickle from any of them. OK, I'm (just) over 70 but carry no excess weight and take no medications and have no chronic or underlying health issues.

Work the probabilities accordingly - and science is all about probabilities.

Based on evidence, I've got about as much chance of a side effect as winning lotto or being eaten by a shark (I swim in the Indian Ocean ).

Stuffed if I'm going to be told what to do by some amateur on the exit door of the vaccination centre.

It's all about protecting THEIR cough - not yours.

YMMV - depending on your health and medical status.

I'm asking just in case the side effects come too soon. Going to call the hotline tomorrow and get a booking as I now become eligible. Sucks that there's no online booking in Vic.

When my wife had pretty bad side effects, they took about 8 hours or so to come on anyway. Most people report a bit of a sore arm initially with usually some lag for something more sinister. Fortunately I had nothing more than a sore arm for a short while.

Does that mean my yellow fever, tetanus, typhoid, Hep B, polio etc, etc are worthless?

God help us if so, is all I can say.

No, it's still good for Yellow Fever (which certain countries demand); but for COVID it will likely be worthless as 'too easy to fake'. The whole thing is going to be a shambles anyway.

Well, if Covid vaccination can be faked in the yellow book, so presumably can Yellow Fever, rabies... you name it.

Shambolic indeed.

@moa999 curious did you get any physical paper work to prove you have been vaccinated?

When I booked mine I ticked the box to send to medicare vaccination record but since zero of my other vacinations including this years flu shot show up there I dont trrust that it works if you opted out of My Health. I want to make darn sure I have heard proof.
I opted out of My Health and my Covid vaccines are fully recorded on my Medicare accessible via the mygov website. Both of my Vaccines administered at NSW Health Hub

I had a day of strong flu like symptoms after my AZ shot. I have never had a reaction to any other vaccination so I think any side effects with these vaccines are like the Superannuation Warnings about 'Past performance is not a guide to future performance'.

People seem less phased about Yellow Fever, I've never been checked either incoming/outgoing from affected areas and on return to the UK or Australia. I dare say they'll be a little more hawk eyed on CV-19.... ;) I'll let you know how much times my PCR test(s) and/or Vaccination proof gets checked on my upcoming travels. I reckon at least 4-6 times just on the outbound journey.

I had a sore arm filling out forms the last time time I transferred my superannuation.

Well I'm a couple more years over 70,overweight,unfit,chronic health issues and on medication but still I've never had any issues with vaccinations.

This Vic COVID hotline... call the number of the website to try and make a booking. Then msg tells you to call another number. Why can't they just put that other number on the website?

So called the other number. One of four things could happen: 1. Cannot get through at call; 2. Got through, got to second menu item, then disconnected; 3. Got past second menu item, on hold music for a few mins, then disconnects; 4. Message saying calls to the area are congested...

*sigh*...

I have all the online stuff but I also took my yellow WHO vaccination booklet (which I have stapled into the back of my passport) and had them fill in that as well. I want something that I can immediately show.
Yes, I had my IVC filled in also. The nurse was chuffed that they had given me my last jab a couple of years prior.

Medicare is also now showing at the top of your vax report if you’ve had the full COVID treatment.

My Medicare statement updated overnight to show a dose of Pfizer, and yes also a cross saying not fully immunised against c19. So less than 24 hours for it to show

Looking forward to the day it turns in to a tick...

Seriously, how hard would it be to have a decent online booking system. The answer, of course, is much too hard. Everything about the Victorian government response has been appallingly. QR tracing is still random. Their app doesn’t allow family checkins. Still innumerable private QRs harvesting data.

I went to the Wodonga hub the other day, and was done as a walk-in within 10 minutes. The way this is being done, the next Victorian election will arrive and we’ll still be in lockdown.

Is that for Pfizer though? I was referring to Box Hill hospital.
I don't know Melbourne that well so don't know anything other than Box Hill - depending on your criteria I took a guess at your personal profile but go to the eligibility checker and plug in your details and it will take you to healthengine if you are eligible and for which vaccine you can have.

The medical side at the showgrounds was clearly set up well and the records were all electronic, seemed to work well.

However much of it felt very inefficient. reading others experiences from other states confirmed this. A colleague could book online for another regional health service and on the way out was asked to make an appointment for second dose. Nothing like that at showgrounds (run by Western Health).

Bottom line for me - they're doing a good job but it feels like there's been no innovation or improvement in administration since the rollout started

Only Pfizer. In my 40s.

Ended up finding a link for Austin, but error at the end when I tried to confirm the closest end of July booking.
