anyone out there got any news yet

WHAT time does that LAUN flight arrive at tulla tonight

I hope you don't plan on waiting up to see if they get approval. ;)

There won't be anything regarding a decision until at least Thursday.

Why thursday, IM FLYING FRIDAY
common sense would suggest tommorow

You have to be realistic.

Approving the safety facets of an airline is one of, if not the most important thing that needs to be done before they can start taking paying passengers. This process has been going on for at least 3 to 4 months already, it's not like Tiger's doing a last-week rush to get everything done. Personally, I reckon CASA can take all the time they want checking safety procedures so they can make sure that airline is fine for me to fly on. You can't expect them to just jump off a proving flight and say 'OK, go for it.'

These processes always cut it fairly fine. Tiger wouldn't have been allowed to sell tickets for the dates that they did if there was no realistic chance that they wouldn't be cleared by that time (I think Jetstar was cleared with 3 days to go before launch, so there you go.)

In short, be patient. The benefits of these procedures FAR outweigh the inconveniences.

Tiger could expect to have its Air Operators Certificate by Thursday. If not, it will be forced to reschedule another "proving" flight and refund thousands of tickets for its first scheduled flights.

Pretty confident that TT can do it, so yeah, we will find out tonight or tommorow, yay:D.

Tiger cleared for take-off

It is understood CASA will be able to provide Tiger and AOC tomorrow morning, as long as the outstanding issues which are not of a material nature are resolved today.
TIGER AIRWAYS is expected to be given the all-clear to start domestic flights this Friday, with the airline set to receive its Air Operators Certificate tomorrow morning.

Under the gaze of Civil Aviation Safety Authority inspectors, the airline conducted two "proving" flights to Maroochydore and Launceston yesterday, which were largely glitch free.
The flights are the last hurdle an airline has to clear before being granted an Air Operators Certificate. It is how the regulator ensures an airline has all the correct procedures in place to safely operate a commercial flight - from the safety procedures on board right down to its ground handling procedures such as checking in passengers.
"There are a few outstanding issues that need to be sorted out today. But they are not show stoppers," said CASA spokesman Peter Gibson.
Mr Gibson said the issues partly related to paperwork and some outstanding issues regarding the "proving" flights.
It caps off what has been a nervous week for Tiger executives. The airline was forced to cancel its "proving" flights last week. If CASA raised any significant concerns regarding the procedures on the flight, Tiger would have been forced to redo the flights. This would have meant it would not have been forced to postpone its Friday launch and refund thousands of tickets.

yay, yay:) :) :)

Congrats to TT.

One question milocole - why are you so excited about TT taking to the Oz Airways? This is I believe going to be another LCC so the flight and service is not going to be a joyous experience. Is it just the access to another source of dirt cheap flights?

why i am excited, i would usually only book 1 holiday over a 2 year period, now i have got 4 BOOKED in the next 10 months, and i love the A320

also if i can travel half way across the country for less than $10 or less than $50 (still cheap), i dont really care if the seats are not comfy, if it was mabye a 4 hour flight+, well thats a different story, but i think that this airline can really take off and become huge, all they need to do is ADVERTISE

Good for you, but I hope you find time to do adequate studies. My eldest has just begun Year 12 and I keep telling her that it is only one year to get through, after which she has the rest of her life to do as she pleases. So don't forget to study! :D

[/father mode = off]

As for the A320, well, I'd rather fly in an A330 any day. Provided it isn't painted silver with an orange star on its tail. :p

Sorry, absolutely no clue about that. I think they had problems bolting the timber crates to the floor and CASA didn't like this type of seating anyway.

Probably because a lot of us here fly work work and realy can't take the risk that that they may have issues of any kind. There is enough possible issues already which we all know about without any unknowns.

RISK: Backed by two of the biggest airlines in the worldRyanair & Singapore Airlines, there is more risk in booking a QF domestic flight and seeing that brand go belly up domestically.

TT - THEY AIN’T NO cough! With a +$10 change fee (time AND/OR route), I can see no need for any Australian to ever pay for a “Flexible Fare” on the incumbents ever again! (Can’t wait to see where the other 2 Australian hubs TT’s been chatting about, end up... plus more/better routes & planes)

Well, if the unknown unknowns become known, then there will be a lot more known unknowns.
