Tiger hits a snag: ‘proving’ flight postponed

yes, i think they are having trouble in alice springs with ground handlers etc, mabye thats why there fares are about $270 for the first 2 months, they also removed alice springs from the" sale fares" column a few days ago, and douled the price to $270, i think they are not TRYING to make it too obvoius but are obviously struggling with this airport, i also think that Alice springs wouldnt't be a huge route for demand, mmmmm, well anyways:p

I think that TT's only obligation in a case where they haven't received their AOC is to offer a refund for the fare paid.

Whether this is the only thing they do should they not get clearance is a different matter.

Like pauly7 I reckon you might be booked onto a DJ or JQ flight at TT's expense, if only to keep their reputation up.

Nothing's guarenteed though, and that's the risk that one takes when they book on an airline that isn't cleared to fly yet.

Keep in mind that they could still be cleared this week. OzJet were cleared on their first go, and considering the equipment they were running, it's possible for any reasonably professional outfit to be cleared.

They are doing them now. Sydney Airport Message Board :: View topic - Tiger Airways On ACARS
They need to do a lot more than one. It not like a car where you take it 10km down the road and see if the brakes work. ABC TV this morning had an interesting show about a LCC (in Indonesa I think)

what your OPInion, do u think there gonna get approval

eventually they will.

whether they get it this week is a different matter.

Ozjet got it on the first go. DJ and JQ had a miss or two though.

Tiger's aim is to get it first go, so I would guess they are making sure they are ready able to get it first go.

thats not very fair
aussies are parituclar and i have seen pics from the interior of there sing planes, the seats are all corroded

ewe

also the standards of maintenance over there isn't the best, these planes would have most likely been throught those mantenace places, and lets hope they havn't stapled wires togerther in these planes

Given that theyre trying to make a positive impression on a tough market, I'd assume they would have fixed any problems with the interiors of the TT planes before launch.

Maintenance for the TT ops will be done by Singapore Airlines in MEL, so I'm sure it will be of a high standard.

have any of use bought TT tickets yet and if how much

i am flyin of their inagural day, im gonna record the landing, takeoff, emergency procedures, in flight, seating etc on video and will post on youtube so that everyone can see them!!!!

I have know people flying on their PER-SIN service, and no-one has made mention of poor interior conditions.

Mark, I have flown Tiger many times, and their aircraft are impeccably maintained (by their main shareholder, Singapore Airlines). IMHO, they are better than DJ.

This guy making these ridiculous comments doesn't seem to know what he is talking about, and his use of our national language leaves a lot to be desired.

It would only be poetic justice in my view if his flights were cancelled. It would open his eyes (if that were possible) to the realities of flying at a very cheap price...

Arthur Hodgson,

Interestingly there is a school of thought in the aviation industry that SQ aircraft are anything but impeccably maintained.

It goes along the line that SQ turnover their a/c 'relatively' early in their lives and in doing so only do the absolute minimum maintenance needed to that point. Does it make them less safe? That would be all conjecture and some say yes and some say no. It's up to the individual to form their own opinion.

straitman makes a good point. There has been the odd question asked about SIA maintenance... however, they do operate a young fleet (just like TR/TT) and it is maintained to above the Boeing/Airbus standard. Really, I don't think there are too many people who would question the safety of a fight on SQ. The two accidents in their history are as a result of pilot/ATC error (747 in Taipei) and (although unconfirmed) pilot "error" on the Silkair 737.

As for milocole's comments, I think you need to step back and take a big breath and calm down. Nobody has said TT are delaying their startup, there has simply been a delay on one proving flight. They no doubt factored this into their startup plans.

To go off on tangents about "corroding" aircraft is unproductive and is not going to help your cause. To also accuse DJ/JQ of being "coughs" when you then admit you've never flown DJ is, to say the least, childish.

For your reference, TT's first aircraft are former TR birds. They are only a few years old (in aviation terms - brand new) and have been maintained by SIA to a high standard. If you want factual information about aircraft maintenance, I'd suggest you source something other than Today Tonight.

Similarly the SQ 777 tail strike at AKL was also pilot error (miscalculated Vr and rotated way too early).

Mer, well i respect yur comments about how childish i am, well im only about 30 days off 18, i am a plane enthusiast!!, i am hoping to get into the Avaition course at swinburne in 2 years (deffered, that damn course isnt too cheap!), but i love Airplanes, so you can imagine how childish i get, but i know a fair bit about the airline industry, especially for my age

well anyways, back on track of "Tiger hits a snag: ‘proving’ flight postponed", i think that they would probaly say something about their approval on tue,wed mabye?????

As soon as they get approval they'll let the passengers know.
