Three things.danielribo said:straitman makes a good point. There has been the odd question asked about SIA maintenance... however, they do operate a young fleet (just like TR/TT) and it is maintained to above the Boeing/Airbus standard. Really, I don't think there are too many people who would question the safety of a fight on SQ. The two accidents in their history are as a result of pilot/ATC error (747 in Taipei) and (although unconfirmed) pilot "error" on the Silkair 737.
1. I emphasise that my comments referred to a school of thought within the aviation industry.
2. The industry version of the Taipei 747 is system error.
3. The industry version of the Silkair is a lot more sinister than pilot or system error.
Once again a good example of systemic errors compounding to allow the pilot into a position where he got it wrong. SQ have not been renown for their proactive approach to CRM and its application.NM said:Similarly the SQ 777 tail strike at AKL was also pilot error (miscalculated Vr and rotated way too early).
