I think maybe each time you checkin when your passport is scanned it's able to locate your original ESTA. :p

I wonder if it may be that also if you fly pretty much the same flight each time into the USA they don't check (or check very well).

For example, if you live in SYD and go to the USA each time on QF11, would they really care if you don't update the date of departure each time?

In the end, you would need to be denied entry for the **** to really hit the fan for both you and the airline, right? If an airline authorises you to fly on an ESTA which may be incorrectly filled, if the passenger enters the USA fine then there is no problem?

Of course, I'm not advocating people here to cut corners and expect to get away with it all the time. One should attempt to err on the side of caution on these things.

Just checked in at NRT to find out that JQ26 has been changed from direct NRT-CNS to NRT-KIX-CNS so I will get in at 10am instead of 5.30. And arriving in KIX at 10.30 tonight. Will any lounges be open? Will I have time with a 90 minute connection?

I don't believe it's got anything to do with whether you take the same flight number or not. The checkin process will not be able to be completed without acknowledgement from Homeland Security that a valid ESTA application is held on file.

If there is no valid ESTA on file the system will ask you whether there is any other documentation the pax has eg hard visa (sticker on actual page of passport) or Permanent Residence etc. If you were to say yes to that & the ESTA hadn't been amended you could find yourself and the pax in a world of hurt.

Last time I recall, JQ Star Class pax use the Asuka Lounge in KIX, which is located in the South Wing.

If you are not travelling Star Class then you might be out of luck. There is a Sakura Lounge in the South Wing of KIX but JQ is not a oneworld member nor is any lounge in KIX a designated Associated Lounge under the QP list.

Thankfully I am traveling in star class, hence my lowly Silver self is riding the Narita Beer Robot at the moment. So pretty. It's like a sudsy ballet!

If it is still the Asuka Lounge and nothing much has changed, then I can say you shouldn't expect too much from the lounge. No hot food except for croissants and danishes (are they even warm?), some bar snacks as usual. A few computers. Array of chairs that'll quickly crowd up. Probably the only thing interesting for you is that there is beer.

Then again, it's a more interesting side away from the rather static looking terminal (the more sedate look is a toss up between KIX and BKK).

If you want a shower/gym/swim with little effort in SIN; simply pack old stuff in your carry on, use it and dispose ...

Going back through my records -- my current ESTA never had any flight or address information in it to begin with and still doesn't -- maybe if it's not attached to specific flight/address while in the US details, the system can find it when you go to check in for the next flight..?

Well, I ended up just drinking Kirin from the only open store in the terminal. It would have taken so long to get to the lounge from the gate, that I would have had 5 minutes then had to go back to the gate.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm trying to book BNE-(QF)-SYD-(JQi)-HNL and vv for particular dates.

I cant seem to find anyone online who does this. Ideally JQ in *Class and QF in anything.

A related question, if i book via JQ the whole lot, the domestic legs are Y, but what will the baggage allowance be for the domestic leg(s)?

Is my only option to book seperately and then hope there's not a miss-connect?

Was definitely gone for at least 30 mins out of the Virgin Blue Sub Forum and the email link when new posts are updated kept saying "Invalid Link specified.... contact an administrator"

It's working again now, but yes BYO kevlar and asbestos suit.

I will keep out of it for now :D

From my experience it booked the domestic leg (tacked on to a star class fare) as a Jet Saver (which is Econ with baggage). Because I am a light packer the 20kg possible limit wasn't an issue. I have a feeling I read somewhere in the T&C I was entitled to 32kg all the way through but I didn't have enough luggage to test the theory.

I also was told originally (when asking people) that the domestic leg would be a jetflex and earn, but it didn't however it was a Star Class sale fare and may have been accordingly booked down. Interestingly when I booked online it had fare class for all legs as "star class" (obviously can't get that domestic) but was JetSaver on the legs when the Itinerary came through. Having an inherent distrust of the JQ booking system I wouldn't trust anything I have said to be true for all or any cases. It is annoying that even QF codeshares on JQ flights with starclass won't allow booking star class, I suppose it would be hard to offer the mixed class fares with the way the booking engine is fashioned..
