Did that too!
Be extra careful. I recently had a full Award booking cancelled (BNE-BKK-AMM-CAI-LHR-DUB-LHR-HEL-SIN-BNE) and it started like this. Flights disappeared from the app but still showed online. Called Qantas and told all OK just refresh the app. Made several calls over about 3 weeks with no result then suddenly the flights disappeared on line as well. Panic stations and luckily got straight through to Hobart who managed to get all flights back except LHR - DUB. I had made a slight change to one flight a couple of weeks before they all went missing so possibly human error on the Qantas end. Still not sure what the cause was but interestingly they had to re-enter our FF numbers as the agent said they werent showing. . Ended well but largely through getting Hobart I'd say.

Clicking on “Manage Booking” in the website ought to show any recalcitrant sector/flight that may have changed/cancelled or not showing “Confirmed” or worse - missing!

I've got a SYD-SIN reward at the moment and want to add a connecting MEL-SYD the night before (<24 hour connection). The contact centre is adamant that there is an additional points cost owed because it's an overnight (>8 hour) stopover, but that's not my understanding of how it works - and if I try to do it myself on the website indeed there's no additional cost to have that domestic leg. Am I in the wrong here?

It shouldnt be considered a stopover. As per t&cs:

'Stopover' in relation to:

(a) an Australian domestic Itinerary, means a break of journey at an intermediate point when onward travel does not take place on the same calendar day; and
(b) for all other Itineraries, including those containing a domestic to international connecting flight, means when a passenger arrives at an intermediate point and is not scheduled to depart within 24 hours of arrival;

Qantas call center is notorious for giving wrong information, or making up rules on the spot (where does this 8h threshold comes from?). You will need to call again, quote the t&cs, ask they check with manager, and potantially hang up and call again until its good.

Oh and there is a change fee of 5k per passengers.

I've worked out that the difference they're quoting is due to the fact that I had to split myself off the PNR, and as a result they are re-pricing based on the new reward table when the booking was made months ago - and it's not due to an increase in distance band, but I haven't been able to communicate this so far.

So far I've been told:
- You should pay more because it's an additional flight (never mind that the 30,100 they're asking for costs more than the flight itself outright)
- Connections overnight are stopovers
- Connections >8h are stopovers
- Points re-pricing is based on original ticket issuance date

Will try to call again later, but losing patience given that the last two times it's already been HBA picking up.

Ah, so you booked before the chart change, but then you split the pnr, and the PNR of the trip you want to update has been issue after the chart change.
Between the point recalculation on the new chart, plus the change fee, you may consider booking MEL-SYD separatly. If you don t take the last flight of the day, the risk of misconnect on two separate pnr is very small. That a an option. The other option is to pay those points, if you are concerned about misconnect.
