Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

Was in Row 5A today on a 737 with economy plus with in seat entertainment but there was no divider at all. The seat was incredibly uncomfortable width wise - the alignment meant the column between the two windows was up against the seat - my right arm was over into 5B. Of course the flight was full so one of us had to sit learning forward. Now Ive sat in lots of 5A and 5D in the past and had no issues so wondering if anyone else had noticed this?. Definitely not a premium seat.

Thanks for reminding me. I was seduced by the econ+ and thought I might fly in Y on the short domestic sectors again. The last time I flew Y MEL-SYD a year or two ago, adverse weather saw flights delayed/cancelled. I was shunted from 1 flight to another and back to my original flight. I ended up in a middle seat. 3 men with broad shoulders made for an incredibly uncomfortable flight.

I have probably missed this in all the reading but does the T-80hr wider selection and T-24hr all selection 'trick' still work under this regime?

Not as it previously was. in fact the process appears to have been changing day by day as Qantas bed it down.

My advice is to check and check often in the days leading up to your flight.

Interesting experience as a Silver. Once check in opens, access to the econ plus seats vanishes. They're still unoccupied, but unavailable to purchase. Fortunately the lounge has had no issues moving me to row 4.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is the mechanism they use to make it free for Gold. They have to block for everyone else but in the system it makes the seat free.

That’s probably correct for SG (to make it work) but it’s even more nuanced for WP. As I’ve mentioned earlier and @serfty, Row 4 can become available but then also gets locked out at T-24. Applying the same logic, that’s probably to reserve Row 4 for last minute CL/P1s? Well, until there’s a cancellation…
