Nada for a WP with 400 SC five months into membership year and no forward bookings.

Also nothing for a WP with 0 SC three months into membership year and no forward bookings.

Booked 3 work flights this morning before seeing this... but I did not receive a targeted email (hit WP 2 months ago, nowhere near hitting P1).

a family member got this one
There's never been a better time to book with Qantas. For a limited time, you'll be rewarded with 50% more Qantas Points on eligible flights with a QF flight number on your ticket.*

You can enjoy this offer on an unlimited number of flights booked in the next 7 days so it's a great way to help get your points balance soaring.

Simply register and make a new booking between 28 October 2019 and 3 November 2019 for travel from 28 October 2019 to 25 February 2020. And don't forget to include your Frequent Flyer membership number in your booking.

I got this one today in NZ

It will not work. There was only a limited amount of emails sent out, a few thousand. And they are clearly targeted.
So if only a few thousand sent out, say 3,000, then this can't really be a revenue raising exercise? Let's say a success rate of 20% sell through...which would be generous....you'd have 600 people booking, and this would not create much more than a blip in earnings.

Maybe this is more a data gathering exercise to see which types of people bite at these offers?

For someone who hit P1 with almost 10 months to spare, they should be paying you to continue to fly with them, let alone double SC! 😜
Just found this thread so now I understand it’s targetted and so glad I’m one of the lucky ones, pity I couldn’t take advantage of the $843 J companion fare unless someone else wants to do a SC run with me? One way via Adl would yield 320 SC with this promo.

Although I retained P1 with a few months to spare there was a member on AFF who retained P1 within 2-3 weeks and didn’t even fly QF metal, Quick & Easy P1 Requalification. For the record it was closer to 9.5 months to spare ;)

I am gold having retained membership about 2 months ago. Currently have no SCs but have a rtw Finnair/QF flight booked early next year.

I haven’t had an offer of any type of bonus SCs for at least 12 months. Shame as I would have booked some flights as I would love to reach WP at least once!

Well I am certain that I won't be invited to participate.Pretty hard to double zero SCs and 11 months into my year. ;) :D

Interesting anecdote about the possibility that there are now many more higher tier members than ever before:

'QF2 last weekend apparently had an announcement influght saying they set a record with 86 chairmans + P1 on board. source: friend who flew on it'

Source: FlyerTalk Forums - View Single Post - Second round of Qantas DSC coming up soon?

Just for some persepctive, being a Chairmans Lounge members has ZERO to do with the amount of flying done.

Many on here see it as some badge of honour above the ranks of Platinum, its not. Its simply a way Qantas entices/rewards those in positions of power that can influence more business into Qantas. I've worked in organisations with CL members who might fly twice a year BUT they had pulling power over which contracts were awards to suppliers.

Its the P1's I feel sorry for :p

Obviously it is not a perfect anecdote. But on the assumption that Qantas hasn't drastically increased the number of CL memberships it hands out, the breaking of records suggests that there are more P1s than ever before.

I agree would be a data exercise to see how many people do actually bite, and in turn depending on their uptake will offer it more broadly in the future maybe.

I have a feeling the number was closer to 15000

I think QF might be doing a few things with these offers ;

1. Look how many people are biting into the offers

2. Of those who took a bite, how many are actually making a booking ?

3. Look at how much $$ is spent/person - this could help QF forecast revenue

4. Of the $ spent, how many people booked into premium cabins just because of the DSC.

I say this because, QF has been releasing a lot of offers over the past 4 weeks. First we had the 50% SC, then Premium Cabin companion sale, had the NT/Domestic cities sale in parallel, now the DSC. I think the take away from this DSC offer would be to see how many people, who started to make a booking during the 50% or NT/Dom sale but didn't do it and check if the DSC has pulled them in and how many of those who would usually book Y have now booked in PE/J/F

5. To check if people are responding to these offers, by means of registration or booking a ticket or even attempting to make a booking

6. Try to squeeze in funds before Christmas, because after Christmas and until early Feb or late Jan, people might not have money to spend. And I think this is why the travel date for the 50% SC and the DSC are well into 2020. People would go "Oh look, the travel dates are well into 2020, may be we should lock that holiday"

Didn’t receive the offer but not too fussed as we don’t have a lot of travel planned in the next couple of months, maybe a short trip or two to Bali or Asia but not sure the DSC would be enough to tempt me to fly QF to those destinations. Maybe if the price was right I may have looked at another trip to CHC on the EK codeshare but that’s about it

It's hard to imagine that "attempting to make a booking" stats are that reliable however. I know they can measure this if you use the QF web site, but how many people actually use the QF site for flight searches? For example, I always use Google Flights and then only transition to QF if I'm choosing to book, or if it's work travel I use the corporate portal. Neither results in a searched-but-abandoned booking on the site, although in fact I would have considered various possible QF itineraries.

Surely they already know the stats for DSC uptake, they've run so many of them....
Yes they have run a few of them, but doesn't mean that they had much data behind them. Now they have the system (or a better system) to capture more of the data.

those were the days. A few years I did a lot of the EK tag flights, back when they also earned DSC. The best way to earn they were :D

but doing them all in such a short period? No thank you. The catering, specially breakfast ex-Oz was bleh.
