Singapore QF/BA lounge new changes

It's probably for the best. WP is earned way too easily nowadays. I'd suggested something like this a while back and I got flamed on this forum

There has been speculation that QF will pull First Class from Singapore eintirely and service SIN through a combination of JQ 330s and QF 330s.

I have not seen any confirmation of this as yet, merely the 're-timing' announcement. Anyone know more?

FWIW, as a regular traveller on the MEL-SIN corridor, SQ seems to have a more compelling offer than QF for business travel. Lounges are superiour in SIN, however far inferiour in MEL.

YMMV

I've been looking for two FASA to SIN from both SYD/MEL....zilch, after 30th March

what a pity, i flew through on the 2nd of jan in F and was in the QF/BA lounge which i thought was poor for a F trip. Would have liked to see the Emirates lounge.

Also was one of the 1st into the lounge in singapore of QF10 and the place was almost full even without the 100 or so that were going to come in behind me. Havent really used the sing lounge so this may be the norm

Just saw this (updated yesterdays date):
Creating a new lounge experience in Singapore

Not very good options for Gold/Business class and below, though not having been in SATS premier lounge not sure how it shapes up to the QF lounge?

Hi Everyone,

I am sorry it has taken some time to get back to you all.

The Qantas and British Airways First lounge closed on Monday evening 7 January as part of a refurbishment, creating a new, single lounge experience in Singapore. Our inflight and ground teams have the latest information, which is also on qantas.com. Our team in Singapore will be happy to answer your questions and provide lounge access for you. We’re currently advising customers of the change in our pre-departure email.
Thanks for your patience during this time and we look forward to welcoming you to our new lounge experience in April.

In answer to the specific questions raised here:

Can Platinum One, Platinum, Gold, First and Business customers access the SATS Premier or Skyview lounges in Singapore if they prefer?

Yes, Platinum One, Platinum, Gold, First and Business customers can access the SATS Premier or Skyview lounges in Singapore. The ground staff have been asked to exercise flexibility in their approach.

Do Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyers travelling on early Jetstar Asia flights have access to the SATS Premier and Skyview lounges if they are open?

Yes they can access these lounges at these times, On completion, The Qantas Singapore Lounge will have set opening hours linked to Qantas departures.

I am a Gold Frequent Flyer and entitled to one guest. My +1 is a Qantas Club Silver entitled to one guest. In March we may be travelling through Singapore, with other non-status passengers all on same ticket. Our plan was to take in one guest each. Does that mean my +1 and her guest will have to go to Skyview lounge and I would have to go to the SATS Premier lounge or would we all go to Skyview lounge?

If you’re travelling together in a group like this, talk with our ground team on arrival to gain access to the same lounge. But just as a Platinum and Gold travelling domestically in Australia, where you would all have access to the Qantas Club rather than The Business Lounge, I would expect the result would be the Skyview lounge.

Is alcohol complimentary in all lounges?

Eligible Qantas customers will receive complimentary drinks in all lounges. Qantas customers will receive a voucher on arrival in the Skyview lounge, which provides complimentary access to alcoholic drinks

Do Chairmans Lounge members have access to the Emirates lounge?

Yes, Chairmans Lounge members have access to the Emirates lounge.

For more detail see qantas.com and remember, our ground team will be available in Singapore and happy to offer further assistance.
Cheers,
Red Roo

Thank you for the clarification

can you confirm that Platinum will also have access to the Emirates lounge being equivelant to normal First Class lounge Access Rules that apply to Plat and Plat1

Cheers

Does this also mean that you are going to be differientiating in terms of Plat and Plat 1 Lounge access rules once Dubai becomes the stop over?

It's appreciated to get a clarification post, Red Roo - FYI Skyview lounge does not require drinks vouchers for alcohol (maybe you're thinking of Rainforest).

Interesting to see that 3K flights will get lounge access in the morning only until the refurb is complete and then will be back in the cold again :(

The current arrangements are a temporary solution while The Qantas Lounge is being refurbished, under which Platinum members have access to The Qantas and British Airways Business Lounge.

The arrangements for lounge access under the partnership with Emirates will be communicated in time. I know you are excited but all in the fullness of time.

Wouldnt say so much excited as interested to see if Plats will lose a benifit that they have always had?

Any one else getting a bad feeling from where this looks like its going? And agree with Ansett I'm not getting excited far from it!

I am about to requalify as Plat in February which is 6 weeks into my new year and I am concerned that we are not hearing much atall from QF. The fact that it has taken several days to respond indicates something is happening that is not good.

How hard would it have been to reassure us all in Red Roo's post that Plats will still have the same access as under One World?

Time to also look at getting top status on Star wonder if I can get status match? Any ideas?

Was going to go for P1 this year BUT as we cant get any clarification or indication to a basic question then its time to look at the alternatives and secure equivelant status on a * Alliance partner

Totally agree with you Ansett, and I'm in pretty much the same boat as you!

Redroo's post was more interesting in what they failed to mention, also I didn't like the "I know you are all excited" I'm not some school kid following a social media campaign, I'm a professional that spends many hours in a Qantas plane every week and I want to know how my loyalty will be rewarded, especially being self funded!

Hi,

I bet anything that the Star Alliance would be like banks I have dealt with. They bend over backwards to steal you away and make concessions to get you away from OneWorld. They may not advertise a status match on the websites but if you talk to someone high enough up and perhaps book a fare or two at the time of the phone call as a sign of goodwill then I reckon they would match Platinum status.

I'm just a lowly paid Qantas Club member myself but even I expect to be treated well.

I'll even do the negotiating for you if you want to gift a few frequent flyer points!:->

Dale.

Very simply RedRoo can't mention anything about QF/EK because until the deal gets a full approval or interim authorisation to talk from the ACCC, QF is limited in what it can discuss with EK, and thus I can't see any announcements being made.

I understand that, but a simple benefits will not be eroded confirmation could have easily been given.

But RedRoo could say what Qantas hopes or wants to achieve / provide with the alliance without getting in trouble. For example we wish to do this with WPs.

I must say that I joined the Qantas Club a week ago and haven't had any email correspondence at all regarding the Singapore lounge - Qantas is not alone in this treatment of customers - a far greater level of engagement and communication is required from many businesses. Qantas lets you tick check boxes to get news or just certain types of emails - they should start using email to members more and letting us know what is happening.

If the information is on the website then does it really need to be emailed to you? People get overwhelmed by the volume of emails and not sure why a generic mail out to all QP members is necessary. If I didn't have a trip planned to that destination I don't want an email about it.
