Should I get an Ipad?

i have been using Mr. KLN's Ipad2 for a few months to try it out. am not an I person really, don't like Mac's, don't like Ipods etc, so i have decided to go with the Samsung Tablet instead. at least we can compliment each other. i have bought the connector for the USB/SD card too. with both of us travelling to Europe this year, together and seperately, at least we have both for the different formats, but preferably for me who has been windows based sincen the day dot with computers, the Samsung works for me better than the Ipad.

We have the iPad 2, but it's really for Mrs VC and the little one.

I'm not a big Apple fan, if the iPad 3 had USB support, I would buy one right now.

Can not wait until see the line ups for the new model on 15th March.

I do know it gets released on the 16th but the fans will line up a day or so before hand.

iPad 2 is rapidly going, not much around in the stores andof you want to take advantage of the price drop you need to be quick.

One of the benefits of buying the 2 is all the accessories are going very cheap, picked up a case/keyboard combo for $25 and a charging stand for $50 today, now to just wait for my discounted gift cards to arrive from the RAC and I am back to BigW to collect my layby!

Thanks for the RAC tip :D, BTW if you ever feel the need for a weber Q, join a certain camping store that gives its members a 6.5% discount, log in then use the 10% AAA discount, despite the delivery fee it saved me $100 on a Q300 double dipping! Wish they sold iPads.

I think I would get a Weber from the US. Prices near my place in LA are as close to wholesale as you can get with the big box stores knocking down prices.
As a wholesale thinker the saving from buying an IPad in the US is one of the smallest out of anything I buy so buying in Australia is ok in my opinion.

I hear this a fair amount - I don't get it. What do you need a USB port for? I know there have been occasions since buying iPad 1 and 2 that I have wanted to transfer a file from someone to my iPad but that is rare and not enough to persuade me to switch.

What has being windows based got to do with a samsung running Android? I would have thought that having the same devices would be better than different - easier to sahre apps/files/devices - unless there are specific apps on the samsung that you can't get on the ipad?

Not sure about this - I was told at the weekend that the existing smart covers would be fine for the new iPad.

I don't believe the new iPad has the same dimensions as the 2, it's bigger, regardless it's still apparent that there is a clearance sale on all 2 accessories which I am enjoying.

Edit: apparently it's slightly thicker, so many cases will fit!

I think the size difference is .7mm thickness - all other dimensions are the same.

Awesome, replying to my own threads..I did manage to get one of these in January in the USA. Fantastic little number too, spectacular graphics and the speed ahsn't let me down yet. With the Wifi turned off it seems to last a long time without needing a recharge also. I'm a happy little consumer with this one.

I'm looking at one of these too, seems more usable than the iPad.

At dinner on Sunday for Bundy Bear money was appearing from everywhere to buy my iPad2 which I won in the raffle on OWMD ( bought by Randy Petersen). Thought they were joking! But maybe not... Raced out as soon as I had eaten to get organized for being away till Easter.. Now in LA enroute to SMF to tomorrow. Am guessing I should look out for accessories for the other one I have while I am here, with a good exchange rate..

Can I get anything for anyone?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I want to be able to write files to a USB stick or external HDD - specifically to back up photos when I'm on the road. I still have an ipad (albeit a v1), but if I could do that, I'd probably take the ipad on a trip instead of the little laptop I currently take.

.. Snip...

Wouldn't an external card reader work?

But that's what the photo roll is for (it automatically syncs your last 30 days of photos to "the cloud").
