Should I get an Ipad?

I got brave and bought one. :D :D Just in time for my trip to India on Saturday and I'll get the tax rebate also.

It's now on charge awaiting its first use.

We can't all be fashionable all the time.

Anyone suggest a few good games.

I would love your opinions on it after a month.

My next big trip is end of Feb, so I have some decisions to make before then.

On another front - SWMBO is enjoying her xmas present, but is unsure if she prefers Angry Birds on the ipad or the ipod touch..?? (First world problems)

I'm hoping to pick up an Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime next month from the USA..I steer away from fruity offerings.

Damned thing is sold out everywhere, not likely to be able to get one now.

I much prefer AB on the iPad - a lot more precision (I play it a lot...) but I prefer Temple Run on the iPhone.

Word on the street from SWMBO is that "Fruit Ninja" is all the rage.

Oh - and apparently there's an app for the cats to play with - involves a squeaky mouse running across the screen, and when the cat puts her paws on the mouse it "paints" the screen :)

Fruit Ninja is a bit frenetic...

I wouldn't mind trying the Xbox 360 Kinect version of it though...

Just don't stand too close together when playing two player .. it really hurts when you smash hands with the person next to you ... or so I'm told ;)

Awesome, replying to my own threads..I did manage to get one of these in January in the USA. Fantastic little number too, spectacular graphics and the speed ahsn't let me down yet. With the Wifi turned off it seems to last a long time without needing a recharge also. I'm a happy little consumer with this one.

new iPad model out today, called 'new iPad', lol.

As I've been 'making do' with original iPad I'll be lined up to buy a new one next Friday... do wished they'd upped the storage to 128gb, though

'Rear' you mean? :)

I agree, the naming is silly - I get it, but it's silly while keeping around the 'old' iPad 2. Still, almost worth it alone for that display. Shame about no local LTE as noted above.

Pity 4G won't work in Australia as yet.

That was news to me this morning. When you say "yet", is there an indication that one of the carriers will support the particular frequencies on the new iPad?

Not for a long time, those frequencies are not used in Australia for celluar transmission purposes, from memory non of the telcos have allocation in that spectrum.

That's mildly disappointing, though as mine is almost exclusively used on wi-fi it's not really an issue for me. I've ordered my "new iPad" - roll on next week (or the week after...)
