Just received the following targeted promotion...

Book a Sheraton Resort getaway before May 2, 2004 and you’ll receive a $50 Resort Credit and daily complimentary breakfast for up to 2 children when you book online and stay a minimum of 2 nights. Simply make your reservation online before April 29, 2004. Present your guest confirmation email at check-in to take advantage of this offer.

I swear by Accor's ADVANTAGE PLUS.
As a Member card holder, I always get the kids (under 12) in for free (to breakfast). They usually pay a dollar per year of age for dinner at the hotel's restaurant.
Plus, on most (but not all...) occasions, there is a bottle of house wine included in the 'package' (along with free parking of course)

Best of all, is the free stay certificate, and the six 50% off rack rate certs. you get each year as well! All for $220. a year! Oh, and 'buy one - get one free' meals at the hotel restaurants too.....

I've compared the 'deals' offered by various parties, such as Qantas, NRMA, healthfunds, etc. etc. They don't come anywhere near the REAL discounts offered by Accor's ADVANTAGE PLUS membership.

"Get one today!" (spoken and authorised by 'Gordon'..... not an employee of Accor Hotels) (or the Liberal Party)

regards,

I too researched in to Accor and looks very good. You also get 5% off web specials if they are below 50% of the rack rates.

I got a Sheraton card and it is a rip off. They have not got coverage in all countries - I could not use the card (for discounts in restaurants or bars) or the vouchers (No free night, only 50% discount) in Singapore and India. I ended up staying at Novotel on a web offer ($90.00 for the night with extended check out - 6pm, and airport transfers for me, my wife and son).

When I tried to book Port Macquarie Sheraton recently I was told that there is no room available on the Starwood previlege 50% rate, but I can pay a higher rate!

Unless you regularly stay in Sheraton, I think it is rip off. Beware, they got very clever telemarkers.

Next time, I will get an Accor Advantage card.

If you have 'plenty of money'....
You may consider Accor's PREMIER VACATION CLUB.
Essentially, this is a 'time share' arrangement.
Members fork out a hefty $20,000. PLUS to gain 'basic' membership (there are silver, gold and even platinum memberships)
Basically, each Member gets an annular allocation of points. With these points, the Member can stay at any Accor hotel on the list (which is most, but not all), using some of their points. You are given enough points for at least 14 nights each year. The big difference between QFF program points and Accor points.... is that you can buy additional points from other Members, and you can 'borrow' from your own allocation of next years points if you wish.
There are pages and pages of 'rules' with this program. It is actually listed with the ASIC via a prospectus.
To enquire about joining, requires BOTH you and your PARTNER to attend a 90 minute 'seminar'. Accor reps. won't allow just you to sit through their presentation.... you must attend as a 'couple'! (because they see it as a life long comitment etc. etc.)
However, Accor will give you something for your time in attending..... usually a free night in one of their hotels, or at least $100. off your next account when staying at one of their hotels.
Go to their website to look for the link. (sorry, I don't know how to get it here for you)

regards,

It's a sad fact on the privilege card as I've forked over the $120 or so and never got full advantage of the 1/2 price meals on offer  . In fact the only time I ever had a win is when I had a friend use half of it for half the cost. The card is fully transferable.

With that said, the Starwood membership card has been the best thing since sliced bread. I've stated it elsewhere but imagine a week in Fiji with the family at the Nadi Resort and paying $900 of the bill with the remaining points. :p
The only bad thing - I've spoiled Mrs. Redrat and the little mice so now they constantly ask when they will be going back.

redrat, join the party - I have spoiled Mrs LW as well, so much so that she expects that the freebies that I "earn" on corporate nights away (like the Free Weekend Night promotion from Sheraton) - well, that's hers now... be careful

Side issue..... how do you DELETE a double posting on this site?
I don't know how it happened?

Thanks anyone....

Maybe you just edit the original and delete the whole paragraph. Replace it with an explanation stating something like "Edited to delete double posting".
Haven't tried it but that's what I would try.
