>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

You have the right thread.

Can you get a seat Map for your booked cabin?

What class and what rows does the cabin start & end at.

If I can give a hand here... according to expertflyer, row 29 and 30 are in 2/3/2, but before we get to excited about what this means, all seats are taken with the exception of 29K (blocked) and 30E (middle seat). Y+ is pretty fully booked too, only 34B is marked as available, and 34EFG are marked as blocked. All other seats are occupied. While I can see this as a WP, I think anyone with a lower status wouldn't even have a choice of seats.

No, you have an older configuration.

Row 29 and 30 are Skybed Mk I being sold as PE.

Do you have access to any of the 14 seats in those rows.

Is this weird: QF21 on 28 March is a 14F/66J 4 class. Expert flyer is showing rows 23-26 available for PE, which are J seats. But Y seats apparently include not only the whole PE cabin (rows 34 to 39) but also rows 29 and 30, which are also J seats!?

So you can buy a Y ticket and sit in J? I'm curious because rows 23-26 are already almost full, whereas 29-30 are empty and I think I'd prefer to sit in that section (4 of us travelling). But i can't select them online. I tried to have an intelligent conversation with someone at Qantas about it, but she didn't even know that rows 23-26 were J seats... Needless to say the conversation went nowhere.

Is this weird: ....
It's a four class pacific configuration. Given the loadings it is not surprising.

However, with that loading I doubt the will be a spare seat in Economy in any case - you'd be jumping from a packed PE to a packed Economy. Also, as you are booked in PE, a telephone agent can't just move you to economy. (Row 29/30 are indeed available for economy selection). Results from ExpertFlyer.com

Have you seen that before though...? J seats selectable on a 4 class config on a Y ticket? I just wonder if its a mistake on the QF side, or just a normal thing on 4 class configs being sold as 3 class.

No mistake, I'm on the same flight the day before (Kangaroo config) and am currently preselected in a PE seat sold a economy - that flight is sold out in Economy and the chances of an op-up might be slightly greater than the normal "remote":

Sorry - I must be missing something. I understand that you can preselect a PE seat on a Y ticket when on a 4 class config. But the seatmap for my flight suggests you can, on a Y ticket, preselect not just a PE seat, but also a J seat (unless I am misinterpreting the seatmap) -i.e. sit two classes above your ticket. So a WP on a Y ticket can (on my flight) sit in the PE cabin or (part of) the J cabin... that is the thing that seems strange to me. Am I missing something?

A seat is a seat, class of service is class of service. You, if you were in say, row 24, would get PE service while in a Skybed seat.

Any in economy able to select a row 29 seat on your flight would get Economy service but sit in a Skybed seat.

My flight the day before I would be getting Economy service in a PE seat.

Given the loadings on your flight, those from rows 29 back will be getting economy service.

I understand the point about the class of service. Just strikes me as strange (and generous) that a Y passenger can select a J seat - but I suppose given loadings etc and layout of cabin (rows 29 and 30 are closer to normal "PE" cabin than to other J seats) it sort of makes sense. Thanks for your patience. :)

Re: First refurbished 767 enters service end of the month [Oct '12]

can anyone answer these questions..

I'm not sure how accurate Expert flyer is in showing seats available?, the next 3 Fridays show SYD/HNL/SYD about one third full and we are on one of those, Was wondering if the extra much cheaper additional HWA flights out of BNE to HNL has made an impact.

I do see about half the J class cabin has X marked on seat selection.

Re: First refurbished 767 enters service end of the month [Oct '12]

Actual seat allocation might only give a partial guide.

More importantly, what are the fare bucket loadings?

Re: First refurbished 767 enters service end of the month [Oct '12]

I have managed to allocate 36G on QF5 SYD-SIN in April and that appears to be premium economy where rows 36-39 are 2-4-2 and row 51 is first row of economy.

Am I correct in assuming that I am in premium economy? Quite dangerous right now in this volatile situation as it is still ~2 months to go and I expect a few more changes between now and then. Hopefully not this flight though. ;)

What worries me the most on these international configuration aircraft after changes is that Qantas leaves you without seat allocation if aircraft changes. Fingers crossed....

Is there anyway to check passenger load on an Aegean Airline flight ? wanting near $170 JTR - ATH 30/05 @ 11:20. Sales usually have come up by now, not sure if Greek economy or flights are loaded. Have been waiting and hoping for a sale

What date are you flying JohnK? I have seen more of the 4 class on the route to SIN after the through flight to FRA ceases
