QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

I wonder whether this might be a 'point of sale' issue, and whether the POS used at Qantas' end for the basis of requests might differ from the POS setting used to check the availability? (E.g. AU vs US POS).

The numbers do look the same whether I select AU or US POS on EF, but it's possible there's something I missing.

There are numerous different fare basis codes available beneath the fare buckets you see in EF availability (F,A,J,C,D,I, etc.), and possibly it's at that deeper level that the determination is being made by the system, or, it could be some other element or factor. I don't expect we'll ever get full visibility as to what is needed. Just give it an informed go, and hope for the best!

Yeah - there's been some instances where I've politely tried to tell a TA 'but I can see xyz class' on EF to which they say they can't see it in their system. I can believe that. I've thought the fare basis codes must play a level involved with the manual review / releasing classic awards tickets side of things to.

I have been 100% success rate with CR Y seat releases as WP, albeit, all were domestic requests. Happy with how things are going on now. Might try to get an international CR Y soon and see how it goes.

Yeah, until the issues in the sandpit are resolved, flights to Nth America (and beyond) are in hot demand.

There’s also zero short notice AA F/J seats, whereas there’s usually a decent spread 1 mth out.

I guess QF figures that late night sunday people would be heading back for work reasons.

Called to change an existing CR whY into J, was quoted ~$250 in charges instead of $40 (domestic single leg)... after 45 minutes it was rectified and billed. I was with the premium line but I think NZ based.

I believe as long as its not a OWA, it's perfectly doable as they're just 2 one way tickets smooshed into a single PNR. But grats on the U3. I dread the day I need to consider U3 instead of U2.

A bunch of days had A9 and the rep said some days there was only 1 seat available for request, other days no seats available for request, and other days he could submit the release request.

Managed to get F on the date I wanted, but hadn't previously encountered the ability to request F seats for a WP not mapping to A fare class availability.

QF don't really use point of sale (POS) availability anymore. It's all point of commencement (POC) based which is not supported by any of the online tools.

For P1/CLP1, class/routing changes are permitted on any award, QF, partner or oneworld, which is technically against the t&cs but it is allowed on an exception basis.
