The roped off area was only for P1 and CLs?
Or was it for F plus the others ?
Thanks

The area I was taken to had no rope, just ‘Reserved’ signs on the tables. In a lighter area near the windows. Seemed to only be for F pax with P1 or CL status.

Quite elite.
Oh well husband isn't P1 so no special section when he goes next month

I haven't done the QF35 x QF1 or v.v. transfer yet, but I was in the Lounge two times this week, firstly flying MH from SIN to KUL, and then again from SIN to MEL on the QF36 in F.

A few observations:

Upon entering the Lounge I was "assigned" an F Host who escorted me to the new VIP/CL/P1/F area. It has been moved to the middle bank of white seats along the window, because it was determined that the old spot - around the corner from the magazine racks - lacked power points and other amenities. Further temporary seating has been added in pockets of the lounge to accommodate the new A380 services, increasing the capacity from around 450 to approx. 500.

My experience with my F Host, Jason, was exceptional. He personally tracked my MH flight on his phone (even though they are under no obligation to do so given that MH fly out of T2) and came over and offered to escort me down to the gate. On Wednesday (flying QF), he was my F Host for the flight back to Melbourne, again offering a personal escort down to the gate if required, or anything else I needed.

I bumped into a QF First Host from SYD, who has been up in SIN training the new F Hosts. Interestingly, they are also about to start training for three premium hosts for JFK now that QF have moved to T8 into the AA Flagship Lounge.

The SIN Lounge staff are absolutely wonderful. For those of you who know them personally, you may be pleased to hear that Shirley Lee is back on a part-time basis. There are also two new lounge managers. Faith, one of the other lovely ladies, was telling me the Lounge's capacity is 494 pax, however on the night AJ was in flying back from LHR, they had 747 pax come through the doors. One night they had up to 900 pax. The SATS Lounge around the corner is taking overflow of QC and Voucher pax, up to 100 per night.

It was a little hard to know where the P1 treatment stopped and the F treatment started. Proper French Champagne on arrival, the ability to order coughtails from the bar (not available to other pax), reserved seating in the restaurant area or at my table if I preferred, priority access to the showers (I walked up and got one straight away), and more attention from the Lounge staff than I've probably had in either of the MEL or SYD F Lounges. All in all, I could not fault the experience one bit.

I'm told there is some investigation going on at the moment as to surrounding free space for an extension or a satellite. Apparently QF have come across some unused space around the corner from the BA Lounge. Depending on how the SIN transit point develops, we should watch this space.

That sounds really bad, and what most people feared about the SIN lounge being unable to handle the additional capacity. A lounge bursting at the seams does not make for a pleasant experience.

I go back to something I posted on here a long time ago - you don't *have* to use a lounge..

I'll be doing this leg next week and given its a short transit, and I'm not interested in showers and given it'll be close to midnight Sydney Time, probably wont want food/drinks, will probably just wander around the terminal keeping awake, and by the time you have to return to gate/security etc, there isn't much time at all.

Apparently QF have come across some unused space around the corner from the BA Lounge.

Plenty of unused space with tarmac views across from the top of the escalators before you turn to head to the BA and QF lounges.

Would be preferable to the check-in area views.

Agree, one needs some coin. So if one can afford to pay for leisure flight in Y to Europe or USA they will most like have the means to add few hundreds to significantly upgrade their travel experience. What prevents most people from making it happen is not the lack of coin but lack of knowledge that flying J or F should not necessarily cost thousands more out of pocket.

Agree with this.
I tell people who ask that if you can afford to fly somewhere then you can afford to fly there in J or F if you’re willing to put in the effort of learning about the points game.

That's cold comfort for those starting their trip in SIN where it will not be a short transit.

Currently writing this from the SIN lounge as a WP F passenger and I'm very disappointed with the service (or lack thereof) and the lounge itself.

It seems none of the treatment that others have expressed and raved about is extended to F passengers or even WP passengers travelling in F - I was told by one of the hosts that the extra service is only for P1 and CL members travelling in F and I'm pretty much SOL.

The staff were inattentive and seemed to lack any of the warmth and helpfulness of those in Australia. No recognition of status or even a greeting, no champagne (not even a glass). A far cry from the First experiences extended to all First customers in Australia - regardless of status. I may as well have been holding a QP membership and travelling in discount Y - there was no difference.

The lounge is massive, with chairs pushed so close together you can see they're expecting it to be packed. The food offering is good and plentiful though, but quite standard Qantas fare with some local influences. It wouldn't be out of place in an Australian J lounge, but definitely doesn't hold a candle to any of the F lounges.

I would have thought customers who have WP status, let alone are also travelling in F, would be given the same service as they would get elsewhere with Qantas. This is a far cry from the Dubai Emirates F lounge. I doubt there'd be many non P1's flying F that'd be happy with the changes. Very disappointed.

I'll be very glad to board the plane and be treated properly.

Sorry to hear that. Very short-sighted IMO for QF as lack of attention for F pax regardless of FF status will mean that they will choose elsewhere next time. I certainly would.

I too am in the SIN lounge, I am a P1 traveling in First and I've received no special treatment at all, I'm sitting with the plebs...no First Host treatment offered, and I wondered about the seats with the Reserved signs so now I know.

QF seem to be downgrading the F experience, when checking in for QF2 in LHR a couple of days ago, there was no lane for First, the sign had been hidden behind the exit sign...I kicked it out into the open and and stood in the exit lane in front of the First counter. When the checkin staff came out they commented amongst themselves that the First sign was visible. A couple of other travelers who had been queuing in the Business lane then came across into the exit lane to join me in the now First lane:)

Boarding call in LHR was also farcical, First passengers were invited to board, only after they had invited Gold FF flying in Economy.

And for good measure, when I checked in for this flight, I was told my seat had a problem and they were moving me to 5* but if they fix the seat they'll move me back to the seat I selected 6 months ago. I do wonder if the seat really is broken or if I'll find it occupied by someone else.

might be time to find another airline...

Well, I'm not sure if someone from QF is reading or what but it seems to have been a screw-up. I have now had 3 hosts come up and apologise for the treatment, I was escorted to the reserved area and provided champagne.

One of the hosts said that lack of staff training was to blame, no more detail was offered though.

I'd go and find the people in the white jackets and ask - based on my conversation, you should definitely also be extended the same service (it's for F customers, regardless of status, as it should be).

Glad you finally got looked after, but I couldn't be bothered, I'll write management an email during the week though highlighting the poor F/P1 experience.

these are the sort of stuff ups which mean I now fly F with EK and SQ :) glad there was some service recovery for you. I had amazing service in the TPR in Singapore and I have zero status with SQ - Qantas really needs to lift its game, but does it care enough? Joyce seems to be very focused on Business

Only if you feel that premium travel is that important that you need to do that research in the first place?

Does anyone have F menus for QF2? Is it now a supper service out of both LHR and SIN or do you get a full dinner ex-SIN?

So many ppl complan to me about flying Y, especially long haul (I know you’re not one of them JohnK) but when I give them solutions and try to teach them how to fish, 99% listen then put it in the too hard basket and keep complaining.
I just don’t get ppl who are not happy about something in their life yet do nothing about it, although they are given all the tools to do so.

What was the final outcome re your seat? I had issues twice late last year with 1A, and was relocated to 3A, 5A, and J (!) on various legs. The A/C vent was broken. I'm back there again next week and am a little nervous after my excursion in J!

Of course I'd complain flying QFA economy.
Ask the same people how they feel about another airline, say SIA? Or even UAE.
