Well that's status sorted for next year :).
On a completely different note, Perth here I come (might even suggest dinner and drinks with PER peeps, although we're talking September). Feels a little funny knowing I've got a flight booked again.

I assume you’ll be flying to PER via MEL, ASP, DRW, ADL and BNE? ;)

The only thing i could think of was the status rollover, but I think double status credits will be excluded from the rollover.

I would think the DSCs would be part of the rollover into your next membership year.
FWIW I asked the VIP team about this today and was advised that the only the base credits will count for the roll over. That been said who knows what will end up happening.

I have to take some flights this side of my year end date and if the DSC do come through it will be a bonus. I figure with the status boost and around 500SC in the roll over fund P1 may be retained without to much effort or international travel.

Not quite, just via MEL each way. Although the bonus SC's at the start of my year plus DSC's (and some J in there just for good measure) certainly helped the cause.

I would think the DSCs would be part of the rollover into your next membership year. By extending everyone's status with just one flight, Qantas has effectively told everyone to forget about their current year and look to the next so I think it would seem silly to exclude them.

That said, "bonus status credits" is included in the advertising which would suggest they are excluded.

Once again, the complexities of QFF mean we're left scratching our heads.

I made three separate calls to QF about this today. The first two were to QFF and answered offshore. Both agents looked up the info and within a few seconds told me no, no rollover of the DSCs.

The third call I went through to reservations so I'd be answered in Australia. The lady highlighted she was in res and not FF but thought the DSCs would rollover. She put me on hold to speak to a colleague in FF. A few minutes later it was confirmed that, yes, they do rollover.

So. Yeah. Clear as mud.

You'd need to be brave involving all those states and territories in your travels. Each one adds to the chance of quarantine!

A slightly tangential question. Pre- Covid I booked a few flights during the DSC period, to Tokyo, Sydney and Brisbane, that I ended up not taking and haven’t been anywhere since. Do those flight credits still get DSC when rebooked? Rest assured I will be hopping on the first plane to Tokyo whatever happens but it would be interesting to know.
I had a DPS trip booked during the last DSC offer and QF were explicit about the Flight Credit continuing to earn DSC until I used it or it expired. Did you get an email confirming you had converted to a Flight Credit?

As usual with me, this offer comes shortly after I booked several domestic flights already. Terms for DSC usually state they won’t apply if you cancel and rebook. Two of my flights are classic rewards to BME which are now very well priced. But really, for an extra 40 SC, it’s probably not worth mucking around.

Throwing some interesting pricing out of Tasmania....

Indeed. So, Qantas actually got me to part with some money; rather than using points or miles of another program which I've done for all my bookings so far this year!  HBA-MEL-BNE-CNS and return under $600 (in whY, though), and no oh-my-God-o'clock departures, good timings for lunches in J lounges, and I got points upgrades on the long sectors .

Will be interested in seeing how its priced after 1 April.

Points Club Plus member and Life Bronze member!! For the first time ever I have chance to move to Silver. Looking at this DSC promo. Need 50 more SC to reach Silver by the end of June. I'm looking to book a Classic Reward flight Peth-Syd return. I used the calculator and can see that this flight normally on Discount Economy would earn 40 or 80 with the promo. I can't any info on how much I'd earn if I booked the same flight but using points? Any help much appreciated before I book. I'm hoping it will cover it but wanted to be sure before I booked.

A return economy classic award on SYD-PER will earn 30 SC (15 each way) so 60 SC total under the DSC promo.

In Business you could earn 76 SC (38 each way) so 152 SC total under DSC - if you have the points, which I assume you do as Points Club Plus, I'd highly recommend flying J on transcon.

If you think you have any chance of hitting gold (Silver is a bit of a waste of time IMO) the big brain move is doing something like SYD-CBR-MEL-PER in Business which costs the same amount of points, but earns 224 SC return.

Out of interest how do you work out how many SC gained from Classic Reward flight? That would be handy to know

Here's the table - if you have any questions about how I arrived at my calculations above for Business (which you might..) please PM me rather than ask in the thread.

I've registered but yet to finally decide whether I'll book anything. I don't need SCs till at least next membership year and I expect there'll be another offer then. If I do do domestic trips it'll probably entirely or almost entirely trips that earn 10 SC each way normally.

Short window, Mattg any guide from you this time around on the best runs? :)

And here you go (scroll down to the bottom of the article for a table with runs listed in order of $/SC):

As per the article, the best one I found was LST-MEL-BNE-CNS in Y for $274 one-way, earning 80 SC.

Others include:
BNE-ROK-MKY for $139 earning 40 SC
MEL-OOL for $109 in Y (30 SC) or $499 in J (120 SC)
HBA/LST-MEL-OOL for $189 earning 50 SC
PER-MEL-OOL for $269 earning 70 SC

Must book by Monday (29 March) to get many of these fares.

Thanks Matt :) I'm a bit chuffed that for my first status run ever, I found HBA-MEL-BNE-CNS by myself. I could have started in Launceston, but it would cost me about $50 in fuel to get there (and HBA has a better initial departure time), so I reckon I'm about square.

I think I'll give this one a miss. I'm currently Silver and will be until August 2022, so there's plenty of opportunity to renew it by then.

I'm also BAEC Gold until Sept 2022, so there really isn't that much urgency.
