Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

And here you go (scroll down to the bottom of the article for a table with runs listed in order of $/SC):

As per the article, the best one I found was LST-MEL-BNE-CNS in Y for $274 one-way, earning 80 SC.

Others include:
BNE-ROK-MKY for $139 earning 40 SC
MEL-OOL for $109 in Y (30 SC) or $499 in J (120 SC)
HBA/LST-MEL-OOL for $189 earning 50 SC
PER-MEL-OOL for $269 earning 70 SC

Must book by Monday (29 March) to get many of these fares.
Already found the BNE-ROK-MKY outbound is more expensive, so the cheap allocations are obviously disappearing quickly. I would have made a return flight PER-BNE to visit a friend and added that on for a night in Mackay. However, from Perth, even with the excellent fare to BNE of $234, it works out at $5.22 per SC. Not worth it from the west coast unfortunately. I’ll have to wait for international travel to resume. (Or a one-flight deal from Qantas later in the year for Jan/Feb anniversaries.)

Is PER-MEL-OOL an option for you?

Yeah, the dates with $139 BNE-ROK-MKY fares are limited but there are some out there.

I made three separate calls to QF about this today. The first two were to QFF and answered offshore. Both agents looked up the info and within a few seconds told me no, no rollover of the DSCs.

The third call I went through to reservations so I'd be answered in Australia. The lady highlighted she was in res and not FF but thought the DSCs would rollover. She put me on hold to speak to a colleague in FF. A few minutes later it was confirmed that, yes, they do rollover.

So. Yeah. Clear as mud.

Is this something @Mattg might be able to get a straight answer for us from QF perhaps?

Anyone know if Nework Aviation and Air North flights count with a QF flight number? My guess is the former does but not the latter.

I think you’re correct.
Network Aviation is a subsidiary wholly owned by Qantas and their flights carry a QF flight number, similar to Sunstate; i.e Qantas metal. Air North is a privately owned company with no ownership affiliation to the Qantas Group. You are able to book TL flights with a QF flight number and FF benefits when booked as a Qantas itinerary, though the aircraft will be Air North metal and therefore not eligible for DSC.

Usually these DSC promos specifically mention that ok to book via certain travel agencies, this timm all the wording was aboutbooking online with Qantas only. I used a reissued Amex Travel voucher via Amex Travel website so hoping the DSCs still come through as usual.

Mrs pineapple 🍍 basks in the LTG sun, so needs no DSCs, but has several vouchers in her name only, while a DSC trip or two would work for me. Thinking I'll book a couple of MCY-SYD trips for me before tomorrow, then wait and see if she can get a subsidised fare after 1 April. Not going to be big earners but fun.

cheers skip

Just booked MCY SYD ADL with an overnight which suits me and return next day for $270.70 including card fee.
With the DSC means 90 SC's.
Now to see what does actually roll over into next year.
Might help me retain Platinum.

I asked my contact at Qantas about this, and they said:

Yes the Double Status Credit offer will count towards the status support rollover if earned before the end of their current membership year.

That's nice but still if my status will be extended well beyond the end of this promo anyway I may as well wait for now for another offer later.

Where does it say you must book with Qantas only? The FAQs say
How do I book?
Flights can be booked via the Qantas website, a travel agent or Qantas Contact Centres. Fees and charges may apply.

Thanks for confirming, usually that is stated in the main blurb, and when I clicked on the FAQ from my phone yesterday couldn't see the usual statement and the media release only mentioned online.

tbh I've never seen a restriction on where one buys a ticket (ie what channel) for DSC promotions. Obviously QF would prefer a direct channel, but even via Travel Agent, OTA (eg: webjet) or things like Amex travel credit etc.. as long as they get the $$$ they don't really care. Happy to be corrected but again never seen a restriction on sales channel for these promos.

(it's usually hotel programs and the like who deny promos to cheap bookings through things like Priceline - does that still exist :) ) and so on and definitely want direct channel sales.. but this does not seem to have hit the airlines.. yet)

I have some gift vouchers I purchased about 14 months ago. Will redeeming these vouchers qualify for these DSCs? I'm assuming not, but hoping otherwise. The T&Cs don't seem to mention gift vouchers purchased before the promotional period but redeemed during the promotional period (ie before midnight tonight).

I doubt it. The booking reference was created before the promo period. Even if it is permitted it would likely require calling QF up to argue your case for every booking.

Yeah, I figure that's the case as well. Like others, I bought gift vouchers to take advantage of the February 2020 DSC offer, but of course those vouchers couldn't be used within the promotional travel period (up to February 2021).

So looks like my first DSC trip is going to be cancelled already (BNE for Easter)

If I cancel and use the credit later for a new booking - is it guaranteed to count for DSC (I know in the past same PNR meant it did, but that was never official right?)

I’m wondering whether I should rebook before tomorrow just in case.

I would think if it doesn't work automatically you could try and argue that coronavirus restrictions meant that changing your travel plans was out of your control and see if it works.

It's possible QF could cancel your flight which should entitle you to a full refund if they are the ones to cancel, I think.

Yeah, bit of a wait and see. Mixed messages from Gladys “we‘re not closing the border” but also “if you’re going to brisbane for Easter change your plans”.

I’m on a QLK 717 NTL-BNE, past experience tells me QF will cancel and leave it to JQ.
