Qantas taking Qantas Club vouchers off eBay!

The passes/lounges can be run however Qantas want them to be run.

If they don't want people selling passes then so be it

Of course they can run it however they want, i was just pointing out i'm not sure why anyone on this forum thinks its such a problem to the point they would act as the eyes and ears of Qantas dobbing in people doing somethign that in reality is pretty harmless...

I hope the next time any free guest passes on AFF are offered, seeing QF has now upgraded the exclusivity of them to non transferable that they won't be putting their hands up for them... Unless Alan has given you his personal seal of approval...

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

How about offering QC members and SG/WP the opportunity to buy a fixed number of day passes each year. Number available could increase with status level?

Pretty poor comparison really IMHO. Silk Road operates on 'the undernet' and is only accessible via TOR. In addition, purchases have to be made with bitcoins, which in itself is a currency (so you're already 'playing the market'). It's not a case of clicking and buying, there's some serious leg work involved to access it, and then of course, it's dodgy.

I disagree.

No different to buying something on ebay in a foreign currency in terms of "playing the market". Leg work involved is pretty minimal (less than booking a multi-city award ticket with QF!). As for dodgy...about as dodgy as ebay really. You place a certain amount of trust in the seller and hope they actually send the item.

What qantas has told eBay and what eBay tells customers could be totally different. If you go by the current t&cs you can give them away but not sell.

Remember the First Class Lounge Passes Qantas gave away during the stop flying meeting.
Quite a few of them got hocked on Ebay without any dramas? I believe it got out of control when
Frequent Flyer Points where being sold on Ebay for a pretty good return. Beats shopping at the FFP
Store. They will be back some time in the future, Ebay are losing out. Haven't checked Gumtree.

Just thought I might update, I listed my QC pass the next day, and also noticed everyone posted them up there again. Seems like people aren't phased by eBay's notice.

I set a buy-it-now price at $69 and only took 2 hours for someone to buy it at that price. Feeling pretty happy. Just booked CBR-SYD-BKK vv on Expedia Brazil ($300 cheaper than on QF website!) and a slew of domestic flights so the credit cards taken a battering and I need all the help I can get.

TOR is take your chances. eBay via PayPal offers you protection to some level. Bitcoins have to be purchased prior to using them elsewhere. It's like changing money at a bank. It's *far* more dodgy sorry. Silk Road may be similar to eBay in its functionality but that is entirely where it ends.

I'm amazed that someone values lounge access at $69. Even when I bought QP membership (for about $200-300/year), I'd have at the absolute least 4-6 flights a year, with a guest, and using the priority checkin and increased luggage allowance.

If its just lounge access with no guest, you'd be wanting a very long layover.

It's funny when I first started getting QP passes through my Credit Card, I phoned Qantas to enquire if they were just for me or if the missus could use one, or family member etc - of course they said it was fine, they are fully transferable but they also stated I could even, "Sell them on Ebay" if I wanted to.

Just did a quick Ebay search and there are 6 or 7 passes, or pairs of passes for sale as I type this. That and gumtree. The positive is this could mean Qantas are going to start selling them (one off passes) through their website again, which could = more points per dollar when you buy them, and from memory they were cheaper ($45 rings a bell - compared to $60+ on Ebay).
