I put my up QC invite up for sale as I made SG a week after qualifying for PS.

Put it up on eBay for sale to recuperate the expenses incurred in my status run and I just got served a notice from eBay!

Sure enough, there were 5-6 listings for QC passes and all have now been taken down. :(

It was really only a matter of time. Presumably QF Points for sale have also been removed.

It's been happening for a very long time. But not all auctions are pulled ... Perhaps only ones that Qantas sees and complains about.

I just had a look and there is a ad for 20,000 QF points, current bid is $203. And guess what, the seller prefers "bank deposit" as payment because paypal fees are "so high"

Good luck whoever wins that one.

Bit ironic when Qantas openly suggest passing them on to a friend/relative when you move quickly from PS to SG.

Also more ironic when the at QP they will accept a pass from a NB when they know the NB could not have possibly obtained it other than a gift from a friend or purchasing it.

Seriously, this is where QF are wasting resources...on policing this kind of thing? Seems petty to me.

Passes are given out for service recovery, so it's hardly ironic, frankly I think QF cracking down on commercial use of the passes is very much a good thing,

How is this ironic? Qantas are stopping QP passes from being sold (hence making profit out of them). That has nothing to do with passing them onto NB friends and family as a gift to enjoy and a one off experience they wouldn't normally have. I don't know about others but this is one of my favourite things to see, family and friends getting a chance to experience what we take for granted.

Either the passes are transferable or they aren't. If they are, then they can be both gifted or sold.

What he said! Are the passes transferable or not? It is ironic for Qantas to say they can't be transferred but then recommend transferring them to friends and family.

I got one in the mail only yesterday and to quote a Mr Justin Hyams " can be used for an extra guest, or you can pass it on to a colleague or friend to use "

ALTHOUGH on the reverse it clearly states " Invitations are not for resale "
Personally I'd rather keep mine for extra guesting.. very handy.

Why not just offer the pass up here and let someone enjoy the lounge.
Make it a little competition as to who gets it - did that myself giving back to the AFF community.

They can be transferred, they just cant be sold.
So giving them away is perfectly acceptable.

The one received with my PS pack last week has been given to the other half as I'm now SG

You can also receive Complimentary Qantas Club passes from credit cards such as the Qantas HSBC credit card, the Qantas Amex premium card etc.

I agree.

The passes are transferable must not be sold or bartered according to their terms and conditions, there was one seller a few years back that seemed to have a good supply, cracking down on the sales is mainly aimed at such commercial operations, same thing has been happening for a while with IC RA referrals, although they go for a bit more.

The seller which had "a good supply", I believe was part of the syndicate creating fake QP invites and selling them on Ebay. They were the reason (I presume) why Qantas started adding the hologram.

Yet the reason given in the letter quoted by the OP is the passes are not transferable.

I would suggest Ebay are taking things with a literary licence in the email (not letter) in regards the specific warning reason.

Right, they're just making it up? Whatever. They clearly state the reason that Qantas has given them. I wonder what the eBay lawyers would think about just making it up. Personally I think it's more believable that an official communication from eBay of this type would simply restate what qantas told them rather than pull reasons out of thin air. YMMV.

Electronic mail or physical mail both carry "letters". Not sure the use of electrons changes the fundamentals of communication.

My dealings with Ebay have resulted in experiences where the real reason is often not reflected in their correspondence for numerous instances, no different to experiences with Manilla call centres for other organisations and their reasons. I have even seen them misstate reasons for giving your info to the ATO, its common. I have also been on the other side where I have asked Ebay to shut down aucitons of product that were counterfit, the email sent mentioned trademark issues :)
