Qantas Singapore Lounge [overcrowding]

Popped into the lounge briefly on Monday. Between 17:10 and 17:40. Lounge was already filling up. I am P1 but was flying EK. Pleased to say I got the P1 treatment — escorted into lounge, to the reserved white seats, and offered table service. When Faith saw me she greeted me warmly, and despite her best efforts to encourage me to stay, she eventually agreed I was wise to leave the lounge soon and head to the quieter EK lounge.

Lounge was close to full by the time of departure, with people starting to wander around for seats.

There were lots of kids. But the lounge was actually nice and quiet and I only left because I had another option.

Also really pleased to see that while the black leather seats were reserved for CLs they didn’t get table service (at least as far as I could see) and the staff were much more amenable to randos sitting there rather than the First / P1 space.

As I left there was a queue out the door to get into the lounge. And a stream of people coming up the escalator — the majority surely headed to the QP.

At 17:50 this was the EK lounge:

If you have access it’s a no-brainer. Admittedly EK has fewer, later flights. But even at its peak I doubt their lounge was more than 70 per cent full.

Curious - are all of those white seats along the window now reserved for P1s, or just a section within the section/s?

Yes my last experience in SIN was the same. QP packed with queue out the door. EK lounge had maybe three people in about the same space.

I second that, EK is such a nice lounge, plus tarmac views. The QF lounge is good, but the overcrowding puts me off. I started with QF, then did BA and ended up in EK. In all, very distinct and good lounges.

No, I think it is only one strip of the white seats which have reserved on them. The reserved sign does seem to keep most people away. But stupidly they remove the signs when you sit down, so I’m sure as soon as I got up the next passing pax looking for a seat would have just sat there.

Which is the best lounge to grab a shower coming off Qf1?...and Qf2 ? (in terms of minimal queuing time). Would it make a diffrence if I was in F on OF 2? thanks

They all have their positives. QP has some good fresh food options and the bar is good (not premium). Great staff (not just for P1s).
BA is quiet and peaceful. Decent beverages. Poor food though. Great bathrooms / showers and very well serviced. Staff ok but pretty passive.
EK has great sunset and tarmac views. Decent drinks. Excellent food and a bit better variety. But it’s closed for much of the afternoon. Very attentive staff.

I don’t know for sure but my guess is BA would be best. I don’t think the EK lounge has many showers. The QP May give priority to F pax, but I’ve not tested.

It has 4 showers and hardly used...
If the flights land at the C gates (which appeared to be where both A380s were on Monday) that lounge is also 5 minutes closer.

Are you saying BA has great showers? I've not used them, but I had a peak at them once and looked like those pre-fabricated terrible ones that they have in T5 LHR. QF showers are fairly good.

Actually the only one I’ve used is BA so I can’t compare. It was fine. Good water pressure, hand shower and small rain shower head. Whole Suite was pretty roomy. Toilet in the Suite. All very clean.

It is been a couple of years since I've been to Sin T1...from memory, the BA and QF lounges are next to each other and the EK one is on the same level but a bit further along (and you have to go down stairs, walk a little distance, then up the stairs again). Is that right?

Yes, just look out for the signs at the base of the escalators

Yes. There’s a cluster of lounges in the central part of the terminal, up the escalator just to the left as you exit passport control. This includes QF and BA almost next to one another (although there is one other in between). EK (and Plaza Premium - I think) are at the start of the C concourse. Maybe a 4minute walk, turn left after exiting passport control. Up the escalator there too.

The QF lounge is quieter for QF1 transit. I've always headed straight there, shower and back out to the gate for the sometimes chaotic re-boarding (SIN is not a favourite of mine with security at the gate and the holding pens). I'm not the quickest for showers but always have time even when the aircraft parks at the end of the pier furthest from the lounge.

F should make a difference in theory but I've sometimes had no recognition.
