Qantas Singapore Lounge [overcrowding]

I’m in the Singapore QF lounge, I’m a first class pax and while there isn’t a separate lounge there are reserved seating and the staff do go out of their way to help. I’m more than happy with the lounge, yes it’s crowded but there’s a good selection of food and wines available, I think we’re spoilt by the QF Syd/Melb first class lounges

I use the EK lounge in SN, the QF lounge is more tastefuly decorated imo and the food is more contemporary, though it is often crowded and the food tends to be visually appealing hipster cheap ingredient salads.

At the end of the day I'd rather champagne (allegedly QF do have some for first customers if you ask) and some dowdy looking but reasonable quality seafood, mezze, steak, cheeses etc than 'thrice molested "Rockpool" coleslaw with a drizzle of kombucha essence, with a side of spice brushed corn on the cob'.

Any further updates on the QF lounge situation? I will be there in a few days and am fearing the worst / preparing for some lounge hopping.

My last time was QF1 transit. Parked at the far end of D pier, miles from the lounge, so I only had time for a shower and then had to get back to the gate for boarding. Honestly didn't notice how busy the general seating area was but the restaurant and showers were sparsely populated. The BA lounge is shut by then; I wanted to pop in and catch the England v Sweden game :(

Lounge was very crowded last weekend. between about 6pm to 7.30pm. Barely any seats free - people wandering around, lines 6 deep at the bar. Very noisy. I luckily had a seat in the reserved 'section' though it didn't stay reserved for long. Not well controlled.
Staff good. Food fine. And despite the overcrowding, bathrooms very well maintained with (seemingly) continuous cleaning and tidying.

Next door the BA lounge was empty until after 5pm. A few pax started rolling in about 5:45 when I left, but a complete contrast to the QF zoo.

It is awkwardly placed but there's a lot of empty space outside the lounges (near the top of the escalators) that at the moment is just wasted and would have really helped the QF lounge cope and/or allow a proper separate F/P1/CL space.

Agreed on this, last time I was there I also thought that there was a lot of wasted space across that entire area that could have been better utilised by all the lounges.

Wasn't too bad last night. (Sat 18/8) Got there at 7.30pm for QF81 with the family.

No problem getting a seat for the 4 of us, shower no problem, all pretty quite. That said that is what I would be expecting at that time of night, the bulk of the flights are just before.

My sense is 5pm to 7pm would be the worst. Should get better after 7pm.

Yeah makes perfect sense. Though another forum still has people foaming at the mouth thinking the issue is the whole time it is open.

I was there again on Thursday evening. It's quiet until about 6pm when people start arriving for the later flights but still space until at least 7pm

Must say though I am of the view that, just because there are still seats available, doesn't make the lounge great. An 80% occupied Qantas Club lounge is not a particularly comfortable place to be.

I was in there last night from 3pm to 5.30pm and it was really quiet until 5pm when it started filling up

Situation at 5:30pm today. Currently its acceptable, but filling up.

The question is what was it like after 6:10pm? Noting QF2 arrived late at 5:57pm, it is usually quite obvious when it has landed as pax start streaming into the lounge then.

I expect it would have potentially been a zoo last night. I left at 6pm to go to the gate for QF72. However, there was a huge thunderstorm with boarding constantly delayed. We eventually boarded about 3 hours late and then sat around another 30 minutes to take on more fuel and get a departure slot.

My work-around for the crowded lounge for premium travel evening departures:

Fly another airline. SQ in this case.

Sorry.

I’m travelling through SIN a couple more times this month on EK so may checkout the QF lounge at different times.
