QF Singapore lounge 'enhanced'

We were in the Concorde Bar last night for a couple of hours prior to catching BA15, there was no more than 8 passengers in the area in all that time .... we were 4 of those

Very pleasant space with almost complete silence - I can only imagine what the Qpub was like

Re: QF Singapore lounge 'enhanced'

Pray tell, where can one find the SQ Emirates lounge ? :)

The SQ (i.e. real SQ SQ) lounge is also underwhelming...
I would say the QF mixed SIN Lounge > SQ SIN J Lounge

Are you referring to the real SQ Business lounge (ie. SilverKris) or the status/partner lounge (ie. Krisflyer Gold - the one without showers). If the latter I'd agree, but disagree with the SilverKris lounge - has a great buffet

Is that a fake Skylight in the BA CCR ??

That's because BA F passengers get easily confused by the actual class of service on board and head to the business class lounge :p

Re: QF Singapore lounge 'enhanced'

Overrun by the "Thongs, Singlet and Bintang" Brigade* I would guess.

*Not that there is anything wrong with this, I myself am now a member. :p
Somehow I just can't imagine you in thongs, singlet and drinking Bintang! Please God TH,l I am mistaken
Or perhaps you mean thongs, singlet and drinking dry martinis :)

To be fair I only take the Singlet, Thongs and Bintang route in the QF lounges. I like to blend in with my QF Platinum Type comrades. Consequently I try to avoid QF Lounges, although it is a bit tricky when flying OneWorld out of Australia. :D

Re: QF Singapore lounge 'enhanced'

Authentic fizz still available but restricted to the CL/P1/VIP set.

A popular option, alas the EK SIN lounge will close in April 2017 for a make-over.

BA has its own lounge in the footprint of the old QF/BA F lounge, with an attached 'Concorde Bar' for BA F and BAEC Concorde Room Card / Premier Card flyers, but not Oneworld Emerald.

Thanks. My recent downgrade from P1 explains the fizz situation. Something to look forward to as I claw my way back...

Re: QF Singapore lounge 'enhanced'

I am a bit bemused by this restriction of bubbles to CL/P1/VIP at these lounges (I think I read new BNE J lounge is the same?). I mean how is this even managed? am I supposed to put the W into WP1 by waving my white card around to get a proper drink? Seriously?

Anyway I've never been through the "new"(now old I guess) QF SIN lounge, but was so impressed with HKG (I admit on the tail end of a CX F lounge run :) ) that I had planned to try it out - this thread does put me off.

The SIN staff are very very good at keeping track of you as a generic 'person to look after a tad more than the rest'; those who show their boarding pass with suitable status are typically escorted into the lounge and offered the first drink, and after that it keeps coming as desired.

That was exactly my experience when I visited as a P1. There were some tables with a reserved sign on.

ah, I guess that mirrors my experience at HKG where they did make special note of my status and the (fantastic) manager walked me in and offered me priority shower and whatever(but didn't mention drinks, but that may not have been a thing at the HKG lounge then). I was very impressed by all the staff specially the bar folks at HKG. I think I may have had a number of espresso martinis :) (slept well on HKG-MEL !!!)

After many visits, I've become friendly with one of the staff who has been there for years. Even though I'm only WP, I've been offered "better wines" from the bar.

Interesting. In the almost two and half years I was a (obviously second tier) P1 I was never escorted anywhere at any time by anyone at QF.

This includes numerous visits to the SIN lounge.

Re: QF Singapore lounge 'enhanced'

A bit of a downer. I remember when I first visited the Singapore lounge in 2013 they had Erdinger on tap. Those were the days...

Oh man, don't remind me! I cried happy tears when I first experienced the lounge for this very reason! As a beer guy, having an Erdinger or proper pints of Tiger or Heineken was pretty good. Then there was no Erdinger. Then there was no pints. Now it's just thimble-sized glasses of Tiger or Heineken. I give the QF lounge a look from time to time, but 9/10 times I've been going to the EK lounge since the tie-up as it is generally much quieter and with a better range of food and drink (incl. Veuve Clicquot, self-served, even for us lowly regular WPs). I'll use the BA lounge until the EK refit at C Transfer is done in April.

Looking forward to see what CX might do lounge-wise in Terminal 4 once they're in... we need better OW options in the world's best airport!

Cheers,
Matt.

Re: QF Singapore lounge 'enhanced'

Well, looks like I'll have to run the Gauntlet of the BA lounge attendants next month before my evening QF flights.

The QF SIN lounge for me had only been a pitstop as I much preferred the EK lounge over the BA and QF lounges.
