How is purchasing vouchers the same as credit card spend?

And points from credit card spend certainly do not post to your QF account "instantly".

I meant to the CC reward programs, not QF points. And you are right, purchasing vouchers certainly is not the same as CC spend, since we are buying vouchers directly from Qantas I don't see why it shouldn't take a couple of days at most.

I don't know why there's angst about this. This behaviour is consistent with previous years and the points will likely post around the end of January.

I expect it gives time for any issues with voucher purchases(if there are any-I have no idea) to be sorted and they can do one sweep and catch the lot. This is not uncommon.

The points for gift card purchases are a small bonus but every point helps. The easiest way to boost the points balance is from changing credit cards, yes.

I only bought the one gift card during the promo but some would deliberately change credit cards in anticipation and get their sign up bonus purchasing gift cards during the promo.

The gift cards purchased came with their own $savings via various promotions, will save in credit card fees when booking flights and the points are a bonus.
