Qantas Complimentary Lounge Pass Discussion

Another random thought - she could get a Dragonpass membership through Club Avolta and buy into the Ahlan Lounge for $US31.

We are flying to BKK late January and decided to book economy on the outbound trip and J on the way back. I have a couple of lounge passes and thought I'd link them for the Sydney Int lounge as we have a 3 hour wait after flying in from CBR. However I find that I am unable to do so because of " Qantas Lounge Passes are not available for purchase or linking for this flight".

I'm assuming this is due to my returning to dirt status, sorry bronze status, after using other carriers over the last few years. Given the flight is in more than 3 months I'm guessing they are not about to change their minds. Is there any point to checking closer to the flight or do I just accept defeat now?

hey there,
so my partner and I have a upcoming flight Mel > coughet on 21/10 on a Jetstar flight and have managed to link 1 of the general lounge invitations to the Qantas international business lounge (done 4 weeks ago), I forgot to add my partners so trying now and its only giving me option for Qantas domestic lounge, the business lounge doesn't show up.
thoughts ? did they run out of capacity ?
cheers

It seems while the first lounge at MEL is closed during October, use of lounge passes at T2 has been restricted.

I guess this restriction has been implemented subsequent to your initial linking.

I have seen recent anecdotes to that effect

Yes. I can see it for bookings next week. If you want to use a lounge pass. It's not anecdotal.

But the Qantas website only states the F-lounge is closed. Nothing about the J-lounge being restricted etc.

thanks, interesting, so would that mean my pass that went thru month ago would still be denied at entry as well?
sucks, what are the alternatives? these passes expire soon
I’ll try my luck and call tomorrow see what they can do.

A surprise that I couldnt attach a QFF lounge pass to an upcoming JQ flight out of MEL (next Thursday) and zero notification of it listed anywhere but here - annoying, but unsurprising from Qantas.

However, I since found I have access to any one of the three below in MEL via a CC for free:
* Plaza Premium
* House
* Marhaba

Really hoping to have a shower and a pre-flight beer whilst doing some laptop work before flying - happy to cough up a $20 or so charge for showers at the House if its a significant better than Marhaba - but is it?

Dragonpass says I can't access another lounge within 2hrs of entry into one of them - so can't lounge hop. Hoping someone might have a recent thought here?

Hey everyone really dumb question

I've only been to one Qantas lounge and that was a few years ago when I bought a economy Antarctica flight which included lounge access , which one believe was the busienss lounge

I've got a Jetstar international flight coming up I've acquired a lounge pass, link that successfully

Is there a three types of Qantas lounges, domestic,busienss and first?

I've read some pretty poor reviews of the Melbourne business lounge, and syndey business lounge is temporarily closed.

I've been to the Melbourne a-mex lounge few times about five years ago and thought it was very basic but excellent for free with amex card

Technically there’s four types

Domestic - Qantas Club & Domestic Business Lounge
International - Intl Business & intl First.

In reality every lounge is different, business lounges in locations without first lounges are usually much better than those that are alongside first lounges.

The SYD T1 J lounge refurb has been delayed I’m fairly sure.

IMO the Amex lounge is not as good as the QF J lounge - maybe at a stretch the food is slightly better in Amex but the drinks are much more restricted and it can be difficult to get a seat. QF has a lot more natural light.

MEL intl J lounge is worse than the SYD equivalent.

things may have changed, but when I went to the Amex lounge ,it was small with zero windows, but it was empty everytime i went so it wasnt a problem, that place full would be pretty bad,

the buffet/drinks were were fine but the cooked food, made to order was horrible, I ordered a asian style rice noodle soup and it was like it was made by a person who had never had it before, by far the worst noodles ive ever had (and im not a fussy person)

when I was at the qantas Melb lounge it was far nicer....although some people say its dark and few windows, when I was there i didnt think so unless i was in a different lounge, might have a look through my photos)

I was talking about the SYD lounges.

I haven’t been to either MEL lounge since Covid but I didn’t like either of them as of about 2018.
