just wondering, when you book flights using the $450 travel credit do you earn normal status credits and ff points, or is it no earn like a classic award flight etc?

If it's like the other cards travel credit then you'll earn SC and also FF points. That's because your still actually purchasing the flights, however AMEX is just providing you with credit to use on reducing the cost of them.

Any insights whether Amex extend their offers. My 18 month anniversary is 8 October. How often are the offers rolling around these days. Thanks

They normally change the offer slightly on the review date, for example, it might stay at 100k points but the referral bonus dips to 20k, or it drops to 50k but with a discounted annual fee, etc. I wouldn't risk applying sooner than expiry of your 18 month period though, they seem to be enforcing it now

This is a great card with a better points earn rate currently.
You can also earn points when paying the ATO at 0.5pts/$.
Look in the referral section for more info about this card.

Wow, this is a good offer. I've got a HSBC QF Visa Plat which I love but this is worth it just for the 100K points.

I just signed up and was approved in 60 seconds - I'm impressed by how efficient they are. This will come in handy for my trip to the USA later this year.

Any idea how long it takes for the 100K points to credit after you've met the spend requirement?

They get credited online as soon as the transaction in which you meet the spend criteria settles.
Points then sweep monthly to QFF around the 25th, depending on your statement date

Really? I've easily met the criteria and don't have my 100k points yet.

**edit - nevermind, yes i do, they are credited on the amex site just haven't gone across to qantas yet.

I wonder if the travel credit will apply against any Qantas charge like taxes for a Frequent Flyer booking.

Unlikely. Documentation suggested it would come off a flight you book on qantas via the amex travel site.

I think a new line has appeared in the t&c's regarding the return domestic flight/$450 credit (or I missed it last time). It seems you can keep your return flight until the 30th of April. Does this mean that after 31st October you can choose between the travel credit or the return flight? my card is up to be cancelled in December but my other half is about to apply through the referral link, I am wondering if we can both access the same benefit, or whether he will be on the $450 and I will still have the return flight?

*Note: On 31 October 2017, the complimentary domestic flight will be replaced with a $450 Qantas Travel Credit. The Qantas Travel Credit can be redeemed for any eligible Qantas flight booked and paid online through American Express Travel in a single booking. The Qantas Travel Credit will be available each year of Card Membership, as long as you have paid the annual fee and your account is current and in good standing. You will have the option to redeem your complimentary domestic flight up until 30 April 2018, after which, only the Qantas Travel Credit will be available each Membership year.

Ah I thought I saw earlier in the thread where it didn't need to be booked via Amex which had me wondering how that would work.

Always had to be booked through Amex otherwise - it wouldn't work.

Up to 31 Oct, current and new applicants can redeem the complimentary flight (which needs to be triggered with a purchase of a Qantas product/service) or wait until after to redeem the travel credit without doing anything. After 31 Oct, new applications only get the travel credit.

When does the annual fee tend to get charged? At the end of the first month?

I got charged the annual fee just before first statement too, have met the conditions do you know when points will be credited ?

The annual fee was charged just before the first statement for me as well.

My first lot of points posted to my QFF activity statement about a week before my first Amex statement was issued. I haven't yet met the required spend, but I expect to shortly.

Amex is pretty good at transferring the points at the next monthly sweep from what I've read earlier in the thread.

Should be transferred to your QFF account either today or monday judging on past dates sweeps.

I don't think everyone has the same sweep date. I had points transferred at a very different time of the month to today.
