I currently have the Qantas Amex Ultimate card, approved in March this year, Mr Slinky is an additional card holder.

If he signed up for his own would he get the points, or does being an additional cardholder negate that?

Just confirming above? I recently got this card and my wife is an additional card holder. From above, I can refer my wife (to get 30k points) and she can then get 100k bonus points (assuming we meet spend criteria), and the only cost to us is 1 annual fee of $450 for the 130k points if we then cancel the card before next annual fee? Seems like an OK deal at about a third a cent per point.

That is correct.

So you book a international reward flight with points..... And have to pay the taxes.
A) Do you get charged an Amex fee?
B) If the reward flight is on another one world airline can you use the ultimate travel credit to pay the taxes?
C) Is this better than Plat or Explorer card or same with more join points..... Or just Qantas card.

My veda score has slid to the mid 600s. Should I apply for this card or wait for my score to improve a bit?

a. I'm pretty sure every credit card has a surcharge of 1.3% with QF purchases, doesn't matter if it's a QF branded card or not
b. No, it's only for QF flight numbers
c. that's for you to value and decide

Mine dropped about 75 points in applying for this card (limit applied for was not passed through), if that helps.

I'm torn. I want the card but don't want to be rejected.
Have a look at these threads if you haven't already:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer....eda-credit-scores-american-express-71195.html

Also compare your current credit limits (if any) vs spare household income at the end of the month. I think ability to repay based on the minimum credit limit at application is an earlier consideration than credit score. Amex are quite generous in my experience.

Well I have a few cards including the ANZ Black which had a statement of only about $500. My other card I have more than paid off. I always pay my bills on time but I have a combined credit limit of 21k already. Can't cancel the ANZ Black yet as I haven't done the required spend for the sign up bonus yet.

Well I just applied for it. Worst that can happen is that I get rejected and have to sit out for a while.

I applied too but then realised I have a DJ Amex, so for sure wont get the bonus points - will call tomorrow and cancel the application

You will still get the bonus points if you have only held a DJ Amex card in the last 18 months - they are the only card types which are judged separately for bonus point eligibility.
