Platinum One Launch Event

Ok I'm puzzled. P1 is basically for those who live in the air, shower in lounges, sleep in skybeds and f seats and have partners that they spend less time with than random flight attendants.

So why schedule an exclusive event? Surely most eligible p1s will be flying or overseas at the time.

Ps. A guest invite would be great if anyone has one spare...

Not speaking for others.... I'd suggest those who qualify for P1 are probably on a more flexible schedule than most. I'm heading back from London the day before. (Which now means I have 3 trips to LHR before the end of the year instead of 2)

Well, just came in here to see if there was a new thread re P1. Like some of you, I received my invitation to the P1 event today in the email. I will have to come from Perth so am not 100% if I will, though I would like to! If I do come I will be on my own though I believe only 'partners' can accompany.

But you are a lady! Surely able to bring along whomever you wish. :D

If the invitation email is anything to go by, the new card will be black and red.

So you still the the opportunity to follow through on your bet with your son to fly LHR return in Y!
You may have bribed him with a car, but I'm sure there's plenty of people on this site who would love to see you follow through with it! (Not out of any vindictiveness, it would just be hilarious to see you go through with it!) :D

:( No invitation here - by my calculation, as of 1Nov11, I'll be only 500 SC shy on both qualification requirements, that'll teach me for having holidays at home! I would have made it easy if I hadn't have had my Christmas Holidays and the recent School holidays off... It was always going to be tough for me to get WP1 in Y (disc Y most of the time) anyway - just have to be happy with PG status. Congrats to those that did make the initial qualification and I hope you enjoy the event! (I'll be in DME thinking of you!)

To get out of my bet cost me nearly $150K and I still think it was money well spent.

What I MAY be prepared to do though is to have my photo taken in a Y seat PRIOR to take off.

I honestly do not think I could go through with it. I have seen the Y section of an aircraft and to be fair it is not the place for me. That makes me sound a lot more precious than I actually am though!!

I'm gutted that I can't make the dinner, lunch, or even the breakfast for two with Alan Joyce. They moved the dates twice to try and fit in with my schedule, all to no avail. But at least they sent me issue #1 of the P1 pack.

The Breitling Aviator is a nice touch, though I think I will wear it on my right wrist as I'm very attached to my Rolex Submariner. The silk pajamas have already had a run and I'm not sure will ever get to see the inside of a cabin due to the "QFU" logo on the back. But I was really impressed with the luggage tags that go inside your bags and have in-built GPS tracking. I'm in bling heaven!

And they also sent me a couple of guest passes to the dinner event, so if anyone wants one then please PM me with a picture of yourself (modelling shots preferred) and I will let you know.

How did you get the Brietling?????

I only got a TAG !!!

Not happy, there must be 2 "undisclosed" levels of P1

Yes - they are known to insiders as "Undercover" and "Mad-eye", and they assure me there is no other level above that (and I think I can trust them, don't you?)
