As a very good joke, could someone please nominate our friendly velocity rewards insider as their guest? They missed out on the p1 lunch invite so really would enjoy I think.

Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

Yes - they are known to insiders as "Undercover" and "Mad-eye", and they assure me there is no other level above that (and I think I can trust them, don't you?)

You're forgetting LT WP1 (and while we're at it - LT Undercover and LT Mad-eye). ;)

What I MAY be prepared to do though is to have my photo taken in a Y seat PRIOR to take off.

surely you could sit in one of the Y seats at the training base?
Then you wont need to actually enter the Y section!

LOL

WB by the way Bossreggie

I honestly do not think I could go through with it. I have seen the Y section of an aircraft and to be fair it is not the place for me. That makes me sound a lot more precious than I actually am though!!

This could be the Y seat of your dreams :

40A in a 747, although to be fair the FA looked at me blankly when I asked for a Bailey's with ice after dinner  . I think her exact response was "which cabin are you sitting in madam?" I was wearing my QF J PJ's as Felicia told me that the brown F PJ's were too try hard :p
Sent back without my nightcap!

Bit rough for a WP! I've found they're usually pretty accommodating with drink requests on long-haul flights (like my "3 class upgrade" drink request of Noble One when sitting in Y :D ).

Cheers,
- Febs.

You got lucky that the FA saw you were a WP and did something outside the norm. When I ask for a nice Red from the pointy end of the plane, I normally just get a blank stare or a smile saying, "Nice Try".

Maybe it's the way you're asking? I wouldn't call it lucky - it's happened literally every long-haul flight I've taken in Y (with an F cabin).

I'll usually just say something like "Sorry to bother you, but just wondering, if there's any <whatever> left from the pointy end, would it be possible to have a glass?"

Hasn't failed me yet. :)

Cheers,
- Febs.

Edit: The WP greeting for WPs in Y (which I find happens about 40% of the time) usually includes a comment like "If there's anything you'd like to make your trip a bit more comfortable, just let me know." To me that implies - a nice drink, a paper, maybe pair of J headphones, etc...

Another nice way of upgrading your Y wine is as follows:'Hi, I'm a real wine buff and wondered if I could get a look at the business class and first class wine list - just out of interest?' (then some comments about usually flying in these cabins).9 times out of 10, the wine list comes back, and if you've built a rapport with with the FA it is usually accompanied by an offer of a glass of anything that takes your fancy. For me, this is one of the low cost ways that a good crew can employ to make a huge difference in the customer experience (used with discretion of course). Once or twice I've even scored a bottle to take home with me (admittedly this was BA a few years back, not Qantas).

That's pretty much my experience too.:)

I normally don't get asked or noted that I'm a WP. I then take the initiative as I'm getting my seat and gear ready. Pull out the Q 15s and let the WP bag tag hang out the overhead locker.

It worked once and I did get a bottle of Shiraz from F. But normally no greeting or any special treatment even flying in a exit row.

That happened once and on the flight I scored a bottle from F.

I should add that the only time I normally fly QF metal was Mel/Lax/Mel but have not done that for a while now. Now fly FJ in J going East and JQ *Class to Bkk and then normally CX in J going West. Domestically I fly VA.

Great launch event there QF - ground the whole fleet without a heads up. No phone call. No SMS. Flight in a few hours. We can watch it on the news and then spend the rest of our Saturday night on the phone trying to rebook to another airline. I feel so special.

Hope who ever is going got a status match and fly DJ so you will get there on time.

Yes know what you mean - was out on a tour of Uluru yesterday and didn't get back to the hotel until 9pm (Syd time) so by the time I realised what happened was too late for anything for my flight back to SYD today.... no SMS ...no call as well...and no other options - however I did get through to the WP QF phone line in about 1 second....

I guess this is the type of event that will determine whether or not the benefits of WP1 live up to the hype.

Is this what a Platinum One card looks like?

I have read it is Black with PLATINUM ONE and not Silver Grey as WP card.

Maybe one of our new WP1s can do a scan and sent a photo of a real WP1 card????

Haven't got the new card yet, the call from P1 team said the programs offically kicks off November 7 and that we will receive some communication prior to that date.

I think the speculation re the black card comes from the headers that have been used on the welcolme emails and P1 launch emails
