And for those who may have missed it.. QF's newletter states only QF and JQ(JQ/3K/GK/BL) group flight *numbers* will qualify for the Plat Bonus Reward (aka 2400 SCs) from March 13, 2018.
But you have to admire how they've spun it in the newsletter:
"Get more rewards for choosing Qantas and Jetstar Group flight numbers"

Hang up and call again. You’ll get someone who will do it - assuming the seats are free. I’ve never had issues seating TCP in 43/44 with me.Old thread but i thought i would post it anyway.
Called up the WP line yesterday for my NB friend who is travelling with me on separate PNR.
Was able to get them to assign a seat for him so he doesnt have to pay the $90 fee for seat selection.
Strangely though they still didnt let him sit in anything forward of row 51 on the 744. Despite me being able to see seats free they said that they wouldnt give him anything more forward. They are reserved and cant be allocated. I guess they still want to reserve seats for other status pax. I was in 43A so ive had to move back to row 60 to sit next to him.

What michaele said. It works for any status as you are travelling together (even on separate bookings). Managed to get my friend to sit next to me travelling in December (even though seats were blocked)
It's worked for me in the past, as well... though in March I called up and got the premium line, explained the situation, and though the PNRs were kindly linked in the back-end, she still could or would not get us into seats together, further forward. SWMBO is SG, so I had to go back to row about row 10 on the 738 we were flying on to assign seats together. Didn't matter too much, as everything opened up at T-80 and we selected Row 5.
From my experience it is easy just get them to link the bookings and you are on your way to sitting together (WP member)What michaele said.
