Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I used TrackMyTour on a recent 7 month trip through Asia, then the trans-mongolian and onwards. Available on iOS.

From
https://trackmytour.com/

  • Create a map and share it with your friends and family
  • Go traveling and add waypoints whenever you want to highlight a location or just say, "Here I am!"
Your friends and family can visit your online map at anytime to see the progress of your journey

Absolutely fantastic. The app will get the geo-data out of photos if taken with your phone, so if you take a lot of snaps on your phone you can add the waypoints later. The resulting map will have a pin/waypoint on a map that will have a photo, then your commentary and other details you can input. Free app - you can choose to donate $6.50 or so which I did after finding it so useful.

I couldn't be without Tripit and the Pro subscription. I love getting delay advices before the lounge announces them (The announcement usually happens when you are walking to the gate)
My favourite part of android is the customisable homescreen.
I have Business Calendar 2 Pro with the Agenda widget on my home page and I love getting off a flight and having all of my rental information right there on the home screen.

I was very happy with TripIt Pro but for the next trip, I'm trialling Worldmate. It's considerably cheaper and I don't expect it to be as good. Hopefully it's serviceable.

At the risk of being labelled bias what about the ABC News app. Get your 14c a day's worth even when out of the country.

Any recos for an App to resize pics on iPhone/iPad? I have one which is so easy to use but images lose too much clarity in process.

I found Rome2rio good for planning & Flight Scanner for finding flights - not sure if they've been here mentioned already.

The Oz - I get it included as part of my normal newspaper delivery, about $40pm from memory for both options. You get regular updates to the app during the day after you have downloaded the morning edition.

How did it go? I'm trying to decide between the two.

Tripit is still the better of the two, with better gate/flight/other reminders, but I don't think it's worth the price difference. Tripcase is also useful.

XE - great currency app, lots of currencies all at once
Flightboard - flight information boards for airports all over the world
Dashlane - 256-bit encrypted password app, they dont store your data on their servers!
Dropbox
Maps.me - great overall app for offline maps and navigation (drove from Lake Como to Cinqueterre recently with no problems)
Citymapper - great for individual cities, not heaps of cities
Tripadvisor - has offline downloadsfor content
Vivino - for the alcoholics out there
Whatsapp
Google translate - has offline option for translation, point your camera and it'll translate things even offline
Emergency+ - never had to use this fortunately but gives exactly GPS location and can call Aussie emergency services

and finally

Qantas app - cant leave home without it

Seriously?

I can never get it to work! Log in and it crashes in about 5 seconds. Continually updated, but the same happens.

But, that aside, totally agree with your other recommendations.
