No sticker for me 

.  It was well oxidised.  The ullage was into the red zone by a whisker but they opened it anyway.  It tasted like bad sherry with marzipan notes.  It could be safely drunk I was told.  They topped it up with the current vintage (2021), for some reason, and recorked it.  I had a good chat with them about the process about deciding the wine's condition.  It's simply their call but I could imagine a scenario where a disagreement would make for interesting viewing.  No such doubt in my case of course.
I did get a shot-sized taste of the 21, for reference, probably because I mentioned that I'd never tried Grange and was now unlikely to.  I've got to say - I was not blown away and even underwhelmed.  There's obviously a lot of subjection and, more importantly, experience involved here.  I was reminded several times in our chat about how the 21 is a 100point year, but I just didn't swoon.  I could easily have the same reaction or level of joy to a weekend quaffer at 1/50th of the price but because this was Grange that doesn't seem to sit right.  I was 
supposed to 
love it, right?
Anyway, very interesting thing to do and I'm still sad that what I knew has been confirmed.  I'll have an interesting display item if I ever put in a bar.  Yep it's that badly oxidised, it wouldn't even be worth making a Boeuf Bourguignon.  Here's a pic of the cork.
