Overview of Best Qantas Status Run Options [not the discussion thread]

Thanks for that list Captain Halliday.

Just to confirm, the prices are in AUD, not USD? (Conversion I assume is today's rate, approximately 77 Australian cents to 1 Greenback).

Those runs are a tad high, though I guess a combination of weak currency along with the new QF system have pushed up the economics a bit.
Yes in AUD. Conversions are thanks to google and all in the last day or two so the rate will be close to .77:1

I agree they're not brilliant value, but travel dates are middle of the U.S. Summer holidays which is when I will be there. My aim in posting them was to provide some combinations others might like to try in off-peak times. You might get some better numbers when it's not school holidays.

Awesome effort to share the fruits of your labour, Captain Halliday. I'll just live vicariously through all those that post saying they've used one...

Less than a hour to go to book your QF codeshare on EK F Trans Tasman in the A380

Was trying to tie the trans-tasman deal with this FCO (Rome)-xLHR in J LHR-xDXB-xSYD-CHC in F http://goo.gl/flights/LScN $3k USD today - was $2139 yesterday (I had other dates to $1800). When I was going through the booking, someone bought one of the tickets on one of the flights (was booking 6) so only 5 available, was trying to find where the 6th would go and trans-tasman ran out. *sigh* Think it worked out to be 800SC for AUD$3400k and about 30 hours in F + a decent amount of time in SYD F lounge.

Price is valid for almost any date if anyone interested. Original post on FT.

If anyone is interested, there is a deal going on from LAX-PTY. It can easily be made into a SC run over 4 days if you have the time. $1.85/SC or less in AUD

^just noticed I slipped in the cents sign above. My bad.

However, there is a good deal from HNL-BAQ if anyone is in HNL for the first couple of weeks in the coming months. Somewhere in the range of $960-$1000AUD for 760-810SC. $1.24-$1.4/SC for those interested. Originally thread is on FT!

If anyone is in SE Asia, Sc runs are great with Malaysia Airlines... JKT to KL return 80 SC on MH discount business (Z) for about $600 AUD. sometimes I have seen it down just under $500. To Singapore or Penang via MH disc biz, 120SC for about $800 to $1000. Be careful with economy on MH. Many tix no SC or QFF points. Off course this all might change in next few months...

Re: Best QF Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Thought I'd share the love and return the favour to friends of AFF...

LAX/CLT/JFK/MIA/PTY/MIA/DCA/JKF/LAX = US$1.50/SC = 580SC = 20k+ QFF points for October departure.

AND

LAX/LAS/PHX/PHL/DCA/TPA/MIA/PTY/MIA/LAX = US$1.68/SC = 610SC = 18.5k QFF points for November departure.

I know it's not the cheapest around but still decent value (in my opinion).

Is 9 sectors the largest amount possible on a return YUPP? I found 10 but wasn't able to book it for some reason?

Also, is a 50 min gap between TPA/MIA manageable? i.e 1450 - 1540?

Good deal with a fair bit of avalibility. I'm surprised you even got 9. Every time I try to get 8+ the system refers me to the reservations desk.

If HNL-BAQ (on FT) is still available then it should also be a pretty good deal for those who are interested in a SC run.

I will file that one away for next year.

Next week I am off to do BKK-KUL-HKG ret for ~AU$500 and 240SC. Still available for those who are keen on an AU$2/SC run.

Re: Best QF Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hi all. Are there any good current status runs available from PER? Cheers

Re: Best QF Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Just pulled the trigger on a SC run while I am in SEA in October.

SEA-PHX-ORD-DFW-SEA for 390SC at a cost of USD $823. Comes in at about USD $2.11/SC but it is a run done overnight with no hotel stays necessary and still gets me back to SEA in time for my original flight back home.

Re: Best QF Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Booked an itinerary netting me 650 SC's for AUD 1584.20 ~ AUD 2.43 per Status Credit. Not a classic "stauts run" per-se as it does take me where I need to go, with only one diversion, to TPA (but that's an easy Hyatt Stay credit so there's that).

Routing

DCA-ORD-MIA-TPA-DFW-ORD//ORD-DFW-PHX-LAX//LAS-PHX-LAX

The fares were DCA-TPA, TPA-ORD, ORD-LAX, LAS-LAX

Using an Australian TA to book and associating the tickets to my international itinerary helped save $200 or so in taxes. The total taxes on this fare were $44.20

Best I've found is:

DEN-LAX-DFW-ORD in First Class nets 270SC. If you can get DFW-ORD ticketed as a QF no it'll net you 30SC more which will be 300SC. Return can be had for AUD$1059 which is just under AUD$2 p/SC.

You wont be able to put a qf code on that ticket
