Edit: I originally posted this as a sub $3/SC run before my blunder adding up the SCs was picked up by the eagle eyed TimB. Still, not bad value.

SLC-DFW-CLT-BWI-DFW-SLC for AUD1280 @ 400SC

SLC surprised me as a starting point, as did Baltimore as the wild card stopover. Interestingly this can be done in a day 0600-2400.

Flights I was looking at were mid-July, 2015

SLC is a Delta hub = Competition.

DEN (as a UA Hub) often is a relatively inexpensive origin/destination for AA flight bookings.

There's another run (or half-run, maybe) I know of with availability in September 2015 for AUD2.07/SC. It's been mentioned here before: LAX-ORD-MIA-ATL for US$399 (on selected days) for 250 SCs. I've also seen the reverse for US$444, or about AUD2.31/SC.

Indeed, if in first, that is 400 SC's ... (4 x 90 + 1 x 40).

Thanks, Cap'n, for these - you've given this noob some ideas. I've been looking at a run in November (I have 1-2 days free midweek in SFO in Nov and "only" need 520 SC to get WP by 30 Sep 2016). On Google flights I have SFO-xDFW-ORD and return: US$897 for 360 SC which is US$2.49/SC (http://goo.gl/flights/HXpa).

Seems a bit too good to be true so I figure I've done something wrong because if I just do a SFO-DFW return in F leaving at same time (12.54am) it's $805 for $180SC (US$4.40/SC).

Just to confirm, the prices are in AUD, not USD? (Conversion I assume is today's rate, approximately 77 Australian cents to 1 Greenback).

Those runs are a tad high, though I guess a combination of weak currency along with the new QF system have pushed up the economics a bit.
