Booked one of the cygnets on QF28 on 27 November for March 16. There were a few flights available that week but they all disappeared in a few days.

I have an OWA booked before the devaluation that I know I wont be able to take; despite looking for alternatives Ive had no luck finding anything useful so will need to cancel.

Is it safe to cancel online (i.e. will the points and taxes come back less the 6k cancel fee) or am I best to call?

Why not change and push out the dates so you can book a trip that can be taken?

Because there are no J seats available to push out the dates to anywhere i could or want to go, ive spent way too many hours past few weeks looking.

Also my work situation is changing such that im unlikely to be able to be away for more than a week this side of xmas and I'd want to be away for a minimum of 4-5 weeks to get max value from an OWA as ive done previously.

So if points are back in my account and i see a return trip that suits even if not OW airline just a partner i prefer to have points available to jump on it, without fighting call centre re whether for new bookings only.

So if anyone know how best to cancel to get points and taxes bqck asap id appeciate it.
