Indeed, the online tool does not currently 'see' FJ as a oneworld airline.

I posted in another thread - perhaps mistakenly - that FJ could now be used as part of oneworld awards… adviced based on this article by AFF: Fiji Airways Joins Oneworld as a Full Member

I tested this by searching online with multi segment (economy) before posting.

MEL-(QF)-LHR-(AA)-LAX-(AA)-NRT-(CX)-HKG-(QF)-MEL - all stopovers.

It priced at the oneworld award 35K mile price of 132,400.

Went back and selected MEL-(QF)-LHR-(AA)-LAX-(FJ)-xNAN-(FJ)-NRT-(FJ)-HKG-(QF)-MEL and as soon as the FJ flight options were selected the point cost quoted increased to over 160K.

I wasn’t challenging your comment… just that the AFF article doesn’t appear to have done the same background checking, or been amended to reflect the current situation… which is unusual!

I do believe there's nothing factually wrong with their article, just that certain terms used could mislead people thinking it meant this OWA product despite the article not using the term.

Perhaps AFF could follow up with Qabtas as to why its not including FJ in its OWAs given it is now a full partner and has been for over 3 months.

The article says FJ can now be used for ‘oneworld awards’ which is a hyperlink to ‘how to travel around the world with qantas points’… so yeah… it’s directly linked.

Hi sprites, thanks for getting in touch with us. We can confirm that Fiji Airways has joined the Oneworld alliance. However, it won’t be eligible for booking as part of a Oneworld reward itinerary until later this year.

While we don’t have an exact date for when this will change, in the meantime, the itinerary you’ve provided will only work if Fiji Airways is not included.

Have you considered replying and taking up their offer to “let us know if you’d like help adjusting your itinerary”… and saying something like:

Yes, I’d like Qantas to accommodate me on this routing even if on other airlines because the itinerary meets the published terms of the One World Classic Flight Award.

We have contacted Qantas about the fact that you can't yet seem to use FJ or WY as part of a Oneworld Classic Flight Reward. I believe they are looking into getting this resolved, but I can't give you a timeline at this point.

Thanks. Shame they aren't better organized, they had plenty of notice of the start dates for these new airlines becoming full members; and it is probably as simple as add airline code to a reference table somewhere so the cap kicks in.

I dunno…I was thinking maybe it’s not that simple? And perhaps they need to negotiate payment/charging with the partner airlines involved? Some airlines may only get a fraction of the regular ‘cost’ of the seat if it’s allocated as part of a OWA.

Otherwise yes, it should have been a relatively easy thing to implement.

I think QF is the only OW carrier with such a product.
