QF have a format for their email addresses, I would suggest targeting your email rather than using the generic one they use for a firewall if you really want to be heard.

Wise words, have you any idea which one would be most effective to send to?

:( not good at all.

I'd appreciate if anyone in the same situation as me could send off an email too. It will take a lot of emails to get them to change there mind...

I can't see them changing their mind. The policy changes have been made now and are v. unlikely to change. What you may see is that some discretion may be applied but you will have to front up to a counter rather than using NGCI, but of course if PS or lower you could be in for a long wait.......

Yeah I think the chances are pretty much zero. QF was one of the few remaining airlines in the world that allowed bikes and other approved sporting equip as part of checked baggage. Technically, they still do, you just can't check in a suitcase as well!!!!!

A better way (from a FF POV) would be a handling fee of say $50, rather than a weight based system. But then again, from QF POV there's $ in this. Ever been to Adelaide at the end of Jan during the Tour Down Under? Or the kids taking boogie boards on the family holiday?

After looking into their strategy for these changes, it makes sense. Most WP/SG will get a better elite service from it, albeit in the second half of 2012 onwards, once NGCI has come online across the country, staff have been properly trained and the bugs have been ironed out. QF are making a strategic move to target the business traveller and to push DJ further out of the business market. And from the business traveller POV they are going to be very successful.

There are certain circumstances where loyal FF's are going to feel short changed because of the changes. Taking a bike with you is one of them.

Just in case any SG's missed the subtlety of the change.....

SG now gets "priority" tags on bags. WP gets "business" tags.

PS and QP get nada.

Old system had SG & WP on "business" tags, and QP & PS got "priority".

Clearly SG weren't immune from the QF benefit slice and dice...

SG for the past two years have been getting priority, not Business tags unless they had a kind agent, which happened often:

SG has always been priority tags AFAIK, business tags has always been a benefit for WP only. Happy to be corrected if this is not the case.

I understand it to be that WP will be given tags for the highest COS on the flight e.g. First on international, with SG receiving the next level ; Business on international and priority on domestic.

Another change is in relation to flights to/from the Americas.

Previously one need to show ticket(s) for an itinerary involving travel to/from the America's.

Now the USA travel must be on the one ticket to get the additional baggage allowance:
^ The Americas means North and South America.
International Travel is defined as travel between two or more countries including any flights within those countries when they are combined with international travel on the same ticket.

I saw that too.

On the bag tag priority issue, flashware may be right, I was just sure that SG was "supposed" to get business tags on domestic as well as WP. I'm only so sure because I had a "discussion" with a QF agent over this about a year ago....

In any event, a devaluing for QP & PS.

From 1999 to 2007 WP and SG got the same tags, since 2008 its been Business for WP and Priority for SG, it was an "enhancement".

Ahhh, thanks Markis that makes sense.

My "discussion" at the time was because the website still had the old rules on it. (not that it affected me, I was only QP )

I'm amazed that someone who is QPNB travelling J class is limited to one bag. That's going to be very inconvenient for me as I often travel with two.

Almost not worth putting your FF number in the booking and then retro-claiming

Sorry, slightly stupid question. Have now crafted me email re luggage and WP lounge access, where would I find Simon Hickey's email address?
thanks
Fiona

Usually First Initial with last name or full name last name with no dot or underscore, shickey or simonhickey

Here is an email I've just sent of to Qantas baggage-
Well written letter, IMHO...let's hope you get a personalised reply / phone call as opposed to a canned response, and do share QFs resposne with us.

Interesting timing for a major ad campaign on News.com.au

Ahh - found the reference on the QF website I was looking for:

"Your baggage will be Priority or Business* tagged when you travel on Australian domestic flights marketed and operated by Qantas or QantasLink

* When you are travelling domestically in Business Class or if you have Platinum or Gold Frequent Flyer membership"

Soooo... the QC Benefits page still states that SG receives Business tags when flying domestically......

The SG benefits book has said priority only for some time, at least my last two years worth did.
