A swing through South America

Nice report
Brought back some memories, though I didnt do the Salt Flats unfortunately.

Back on Page 4 you were playing golf in La Paz, and commented about some formations next to the course...they looked familiar and after reading my diary think they might be "The Valley of the Moon" which was named by Neil Armstrong who was playing golf there on an official visit. He said it reminded him of what he saw on the moon.
I was on the other side, walking through the formations on boardwalks and could see a Golf Course on the other side.
When I visited Valley of the Moon outside La Paz in Feb this year, our guide said there was actual ongoing debate as to whether NA had visited the area...it is a good story so gets frequently mentioned ;)

Unfortunately, NA is no longer with us to be asked if he had actually visited the area and said that.

Great TR. I a sorry I gave golf away when at University. By the time I took it up again I was hopeless. But 1 good shot a game kept me coming back. I would have really enjoyed a golf trip as you have done.
But I do remember my best round at Cairns public course. 2 over and beat a good friend who played with a 2 handicap.
Looking forward to your next golfing experience.

The offical ‘Valle de Luna’ tourist attraction is about 1-2KM from the golf course, but not surprising that on and beside the course are the exact same type of weathering formations. The ones beside the course just aren’t as broad a scale as the tourist attraction.

Great to look at and I agree that they look otherworldly.
