Shipping seems expensive compared to e.g. USA Address & Mail Forwarding

Just wanted to say I've been using Shipito for about 3 years and have had 76 parcels sent to me (about 100 parcels received by them as sometimes I get them to consolidate). They have excellent service and have just dropped their DHL pricing.

I'll stick with them due to their reliability for me.

Also, do you really have to
How to Order from U.S. Companies
1. Contact your credit card company and add your MyUS Address as a secondary ship to or secondary billing address.

Can I just ring up AMEX here to do it?

I've used MyUS several times since this promo started, and will soon be using them again. The prices are pretty reasonable once you consolidate a few things.

The suggestion about the billing address is only for companies that require a US billing address. I've tried both Amex and Citibank and it isn't possible with either. So the alternatives are either order from someone else, or get MyUS to order it for you with their credit card (they charge a 6% surcharge for this).

On your first question MyUS.com give the weight of the purchase. Literally just completed a transaction today where I consolidated three purchases from Amazon. You then get DHL and Fedex options to ship to Australia.

I set everything up through MyUS without ringing Amex at all and have had no problems.

They weigh it etc and work out the charges. In my case I already knew the approximate dimensions and weight, so was able to use their shipping estimate calculator. Note the calc for Premium doesn't deduct the 30% Amex discount, nor does it add insurance ($1/ $100).

Thanks....just thinking whether to purchase a Bose QC 15 (versus QC 3) headphones; both are available on Amazon so shouldn't be a problem with the credit card, just the "shipping to US only" clause:(

I purchased, on Amazon, the QC15's as a gift just prior to Christmas. Delivery was free to the MyUS shipping address and then I paid $39 including insurance to have them shipped to Australia via DHL. It took four days for the shipment to reach me from MyUS. All up the total cost including shipping was $345. I am pretty happy with that!

Thanks for that info...presumably I can use my 28 degrees MC (to avoid Fx fees) to make the puchase from Amazon, and only have to use my AMEX to pay the MyUS shipping charges...

Have used myus.com three times in the past 6 months and the service has always been excellent, shipping charges are less when you use an Amex to pay, shipped a parcel yesterday that cost $88 for 14 pounds (normal postage cost was estimated at $125). The parcels generally arrive in 4-5 days.

Earlier this month I ordered an Optoma Pico PK301 projecter, a battery, and remote and mini tripod from three different suppliers on Amazon, they arrived at my "suite" and were consolidated and dispatched the same day. The whole lot came to $415 and the DHL + insurance charge was $36. Optoma in Australia want $790 just for the projector!!!

I have a bad experience with MyUS.

They didn't minimise the shipping costs as they used a useless oversized box with dimensions blowing the price of the shipping out by $30.

They also used false dimensions to up the cost even more.

Their customer service have not replied to my enquires.

Will ask Amex to reverse the charge and investigate.

I will use USA Address & Mail Forwarding instead that have cheaper rates even without the Amex "30%" off.

I received an email today advising a purchase had bee delivered.

This was a protective case for a smart phone costing USD1.99 (I am consolidating several purchases at the moment).

I was a bit shocked at the weight and sent a contact to them, which in part states:
...

Today I received notification (below) the following item had arrived. Yes I did order it, but I find it hard to believe it weighs in at 54.0lb!

The actual item itself is listed as having a weight of 1oz according to the seller.

Can you please check this.

Regards,

...
Also I note my first year is almost up; has anyone been charged the $60 fee as alluded to in the earlier posts of this thread.

I found this thread and was able to sign up using my QF Discovery Amex card without paying the joining fee... I also discovered that you can register with USA Paypal using the address that MyUS gives you, and you can then link your AU-issued Amex, and send funds in $AUD (you just have to change the currency each time) :D :D :D The only problem might be if you're purchasing from a website that insists on delivering to your Paypal address - might have to see if I can add my AU address as an alternate. :)

That is awesome, will try this tonight!

I bought some shoes for $360 and they lost my package but they eventually found it a week later. In the end, everything worked out but just letting you know my experience.

How did you go? I tried adding my AU address as a secondary, but you can only enter US addresses... I also tried entering it anyway and writing 'AUSTRALIA' in the second line, but it verifies your address and it declined it. However, it did show that the MyUS address had been successfully verified with American Express, so the account now shows 'US - verified'. I have tried the same thing in the past (on both PayPal US and UK) with my bank-issued Amex cards and a 'globaleshop' address, but it never worked as I don't believe AU banks support address verification. Either way, I don't use PayPal very often, but this will be a handy work-around for those times that I do. It has a total sending limit of $2000USD before you have to link a US bank account... might have to look into how to open one (without applying in person - I have no USA travel planned soon). :)

I signed up on 12/7/11, and I logged in just now and haven't been charged anything, and still qualify for the 40% off shipping although it does say "JULY 2012" rather ominously. Guess I'll have to check next month to see whether I get to keep it.

Edit: Oh wait. It says 30% off shipping for Amex, and 40% off for July 2012. Guess it's some kind of temporary promo?

I wonder if you get 40% off after the 30% amex discount is applied. :p

I receive an email this morning and my 54lb item has gone on a diet and now weights in at 0.1lb.

Where do you guys mainly buy your stuff from to get a good deal? Also do you need to buy multiple items to get a good deal as shipping is at least US$37??? Or am I looking at it the wrong way...

It depends on the weight of what you are ordering.

The minimum pre-discount delivery is about USD30, 1 to 2 lb about USD42.

It depends on what you are after - one of my current batch which should be ready to send on later this week cost USD30 including delivery to MyUs. Cheapest price I can find in Oz for the same product is $49. If it was just that and a $20 nett delivery to Oz it would not be worth the trouble, but with the 5 items I am assembling I expect to save around $120 all up.

I missed this thread 12 months ago but note the same promo from the original post seems to still be running.

I receive an email this morning and my 54lb item has gone on a diet and now weights in at 0.1lb.

Please ask them to forward details of this diet with your mail!
