Love it! And why not take the kids up the front! Having been on a few long hauls trips in J, NoName Jnr likes to tell people (mostly adults who are usually in circa row 50) that the best part of going on a plane is that the seat turns into a bed. I can see similar thinking in your household in coming years!

Finally made it in to SYD after lots of loops around Goulburn. Bubs ears really struggled with the loops which made descent a bit unpleasant despite best efforts.
Descent can be distressing for the baby and as equally distressing for parents. And I know there is a little you can do other than try to comfort and then experience relief when you touch down.

Rydges Sydney Airport is same as always. Booked via hotels.com as I had a free night and as per last time, room on low floor. We can see a 747 across the road though. A nice easy stroll across the road in the morning.
SYD is an absolute mess at the moment.
Only one runway operational and flights cancelled/delayed left, right and centre. With the curfew operational too, it's going to be unpleasant for a lot of people. Compounding that is the fact that VIC/NSW school hols also end today so a lot of people looking to get back home to resume normal schedules.

Typing this as I sit with my wife on VA888 departing SYD for MEL (how's that, browsing AFF while in the air). Thank goodness we had VA lounge access at SYD with a double pass courtesy of the ANZ Travel Adventures card. It was packed in there though, the most packed I've ever seen a lounge. School kids, parents, business people, everybody. However, walking to the gates from the lounge made me redefine what "packed" meant, it was worse that DPS during a volcanic ash eruption.

Anyway, I digress... Probably should stay on topic of TC flying F!

Lucky you're avoiding the mess and staying at the Rydges with a view of a 747. Very jealous indeed.

We're stuck at check in while they make a mess of linking TVs passports again. The queue for security wraps around the check in hall

Not convinced well get much lounge time at this rate, even my massage is at risk I think.

Thank goodness we're flying F. Host took us straight to th wheelchair entrance and we were able to squeeze past the line to the pram/wheelchair lane. Straight through emigration and security and into the lounge. They also rescheduled my massage so we had time for breakfast.

Methinks you dodged a bullet:

Thank goodness for first class/baby priority.

Made it safely to DFW. Bub was a champion and had the crew totally smitten. She got about 7 hours sleep which was great.

The spanner crab was absolutely delicious.

Steak was a little dry but otherwise tasty. The Cabernet was a great match. Somehow I've never been served the salad in F....

Somehow I missed out on the cheese, but the 'chef' insisted I try two of the desserts.

I dont think Ive seen a cargo net above a bassinet before - does this mean Bub can stay in there during turbulence? Does she have a seatbelt across?

I think so, it just said not for taxi, take off and landing. No seatbelt in there, just one attached to mine when needed.

Wonder if former Mr/Ms 5A did a walk pass to make sure he/she wasnt bumped without reason.
I assume the host called them to request the swap...

Little Miss was well received by all on board, got lovely comments from the lady to my right who was woken by the men in front of her...she said the baby was a dream in comparison. The crew were constantly checking to see how she was going, and we're good at scheduling our meal around her nap time.

Arrival at DFW was an absolute dream. We were in the Flagship lounge less than 40 minutes after we landed. DFW has gone paperless so no customs form to complete. Questions done via the kiosk, a quick secondary for me (new passport) then we collected bags, dropped them at the transfer desk and straight through TSA and into the lounge.
