munitalp,

what time Sunday would suit?

(I have some things to do Sunday afternoon, but if the times work out, might be able to see you in town)

I believe nlagalle is there also, working. I'll send him a PM......

Yes I have been there since Wednesday setting up. Back again on Sunday, so up for a quick drink. I am located behind the pit area. Pete's Bar is nearby, which is a good spot, bloody beer is so expensive there!

Either 10-11ish for coffee or much later for beer! :)

Looks like we have a Sunday location - Pete's bar at say 2pm?

Saturday is still a go as well. Any suggestions team?

Mr!

And before you ask - AFF is about drinking and fun!

When would suit you? I should be able to shuffle around things to make it

Today is out...could maybe make tomorrow, en route to the track, early to mid-arvo, ...or if something else suits eveyone else then I'll try and make that. sorry to be vague, just have lots of paperwork to do :(

Well after yesterday wandering the track, I have decided the best vantage point in my opinion is from the hill at the first tee on AP Golf course. I will be leaving home soon to set up camp there for the day, my phones on so drinkies anytime!

Can someone tell me if the last formular ford race from yesterday has finished yet? ;)

*smirk - keep them TONKA cars off the track IMHO *

Mr!

Sorry to go O/T but did anyone notice whether any of the Brawn GP cars were carrying any Virgin group markings after the announcement that RB was on board?

Don't know about the cars, but I heard he was at the track yesterday with a bevy of "Virgin Grid Girls", which must have impressed QF as a major sponsor!

For those that are interested, VH-OEB did the flyover a few minutes ago...

So did the AFF get together happen at the F1 Grand Prix today?

Yeah, munitalP, Flashware and myself (I think nlagalle was tied up over the side of the lake). Good to meet the former and reacquaint with the latter.

As a first time F1 GPer, a few observations.

Not nearly as crowded as I expected (I have no idea whether the crowd was good, bad or indifferent in terms of numbers)

Absolutely staggered at the speed of the V8s when I made it to between turns 8 and 9, where munitalP was camped. But after a few laps of it, sort of got used to it and they didn't seem as fast.

Helicopters/FA-18/744 flyovers were very good.

The F1 cars are seriously loud - lasted about 6 laps before deploying the earplugs.

They were exciting for a few laps, then it was just cars whizzing by every so often. I'd go again if there was a different perspective - corporate hospitality or the like. Otherwise it was not unpleasant, pleased I went, but not compelling me to return.

Oh, and last but by no means least The Who absolutely rocked! :)

I am thinking it is one of those things to put on the list of things to do, so maybe I will get along next year for a look

Yeah, Flashware, munitalP, and myself (I think nlagalle was tied up over the side of the lake).
