Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Hi, recommendations please for which lounge to visit pre JL774 (0820am departure AEST) as QF Gold members. The JAL app says to use either the NZ or Marhaba lounge. As I see it our options are infact 3 lounges: NZ, Marhaba or QF lounge. As it's an early departure and likely still dark when we board, a runway/tarmac view isn't so relevant whereas decent breakfast/coffee options are.

I wasn’t aware that the NZ lounge was an option but according to the JAL website it looks like like JAL status or flying J or F will get you into the NZ lounge.
IF I had the option of all 3 I’d definitely choose the NZ lounge followed by the Marhaba with MEL J lounge in third place.

The JAL website says JAL status gives you access but since you have QF status then I think your only option is the Qantas Club.

There is an asterisk which says that oneworld sapphire also gets you access to Qantas Club. I think this asterisk is what applies to you.

OW web site for lounges. Is not always accurate or up to date

Does not have a specific entry for JAL.
Some have "Access for eligible customers traveling on these oneworld member airlines only."
QF lounges "Access for eligible customers traveling on any oneworld member airline"

Breakfast at 07:30 in the QF international lounge limited. Coffee from the machine. I was their at that time~ 4 weeks ago,

Well, contrary to the above opinions, I'd choose the QF Bus Lounge any time, followed by the Marhaba. Not that I personally would have to choose the QF Bus lounge (although it's OK. apart from no windows). The breakfast offerings will be fine. I just don't like AirNZ.

Many thanks. So based on the above and this is also the same info that shows in our booking on the JAL App, can a One World Saphire (Qantas Gold) access the Air NZ lounge in MEL before the JAL flight?
I’d suggest no.
Unless I’m misreading the wording it appears you have to be JAL high tier member or flying in F or J.
I think you will have access to the Marhaba or QF lounge

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I've re-read it too and that looks like the two options. Let's see what our boarding passes say when we receive them at check-in.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the above combination.

Fifth freedom flight on EK370 BKK-SAI, looking for access with QF gold.

Is this possible?

Cheers

Asia is an area where the Qantas/Emirates partnership applies in terms of lounge access.

We’ll be flying on QF104 next month (in whY) 2x WPs.

We’ll probably end up in the QF Broom cupboard. But wondering if there’s anything better?

I read a very recent review of the JL/AA lounge suggesting it’s pretty poor?

HA will be part of OW by the time we fly, but I don’t know if the HA lounge(s) are any better nor is it practical to get there due to different terminals?

Dear all, I am travelling with the family (wife, Master Fifteen and Miss Ten) from KIX to SIN via KUL. I am QF LTG, the others have no status and we are flying on MH53 (and I don't think the flight has a QF codeshare). QF lounges enable me take the three of them in, but will the same rules apply to the JAL and CX lounges there? Thanks in advance.

Officially, it’s a no to CX, JL or MH allowing more than one guest (unless infants / under 2), but I would still try your luck

Hi,
Not sure if this scenario has been asked before.
I am Qantas Bronze with no lounge membership.
I am Flying Qantas domestic MEL - SYD in economy class, then later that day Qantas international from SYD - LAX in First class.
These have been booked separately so I have two PNRs and e-tickets.
My Question is would I have access to the Qantas domestic business class lounge in Melbourne before my MEL-SYD economy flight based on my same day international first flight? When I check in in Melbourne, would they also check me into my SYD-LAX flight and print my boarding pass there as well?

Thanks in advanced

You have acces to the busines class lounge in melbourne, as you say, because you are connecting same day.

They’ll check you in all the way to LAX in Mel and tag your bags through.

According to OneWorld rules, yes - owing to your First Class long haul ticket. In practice, it is hit and miss with QF agents.

Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights: First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 06:00am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).

Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight. You must be prepared to show your boarding pass for travel in First or Business class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight.
