Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Hi hive mind, a question about lounge access in JNB. I’ve tried searching the interwebs and the forum and still not able to find the answer.

Flying out of JNB home to CBR in April. Will be J on QF, and hold WP/OWE status. It looks like QF uses Terminal B which is largely domestic? So what are the lounge options as we will have quite a long transit between our arrival from Vic Falls at around 1340 before connecting to the QF flight home at 1845. Which lounge does QF usually use, and are there other One World lounges we could try? I’m especially interested in the ability to get a shower. Thanks!

Yes thank you for that. We had already found that link that but as you said it doesn’t say much.

I think there may be 2 BA lounges at JNB - one in Terminal A and one in Terminal B. Does anyone know if this is correct? And which is better? And whether there is any way to transfer between JNB Terminal A and B airside after we check in? The whole thing is turning into a bit of a palaver - we arrive on Airlink to Terminal A, have to do immigration, collect bags and do customs then transfer to Terminal B to check in for QF 64. It certainly isn't a very streamlined set of arrangements.

Qantas Johannesburg Lounge
Paging @Mattg please - you seem to have recent experience in JNB, so from reading your post, it looks like you'd recommend using the Aspire lounge before QF64? I take it that is in Terminal B? But the Terminal B BA lounge is also acceptable?

Sorry, to have so many dumb questions. I really thought I had a handle on all this, but the more I look into it, the more I realise that a lot of details that I need are missing from the various web pages I've managed to find. Mr Seat 0A even called QF to ask if there were showers in the lounge and the person on the other end did not know what lounge would be used, and thus no comment on showers.

Edit: typos

BA:

No other oneworld lounges:
Sorry hit post by accident - was meaning to say, thanks for that link, we had already found that page but it's a bit lacking in details.

It seems there might be 2 BA lounges - 1 in each terminal. This dosn't explain whether it's the BA lounge in Terminal A or Terminal B. You might assume Terminal B but 🤷‍♀️. Mr Seat 0A call QF to enquire and the person on the other end did not even know which lounge could be used before QF64, let alone if there were showers.

Also wondering if you can move between Terminal B and Terminal A airside after you have checked in and done security etc.

An earlier post from @Mattg seemed to suggest that more recently, QF is using the Aspire lounge before QF 64.

Sorry for the dumb questions. I really thought I had a handle on this, but the more I try to nail the details down, the more I realise there are gaping holes in my knowledge.

Does anyone have recent experience in JNB who could help me out?

Think @bPeteb might be able to assist @Seat0B - he did a TR in that direction recently

Hi hive mind, a question about QF lounge access in JNB. I’ve tried searching the interwebs and the forum and still not able to find the answer. And I’ve posted in lounge access thread, so sorry for cross posting, but really want to get advice from those who regularly fly out of JNB on QF.

Was directed to the BA lounge last year late 2024. Pics etc: Sorry, can't help re showers.

The BA F lounge was always the best OWE option pre QF. I believe it’s been revamped?
