Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Hello AFF family,

I have my Europe trip (booked with Qantas points) coming up and given my very little to none at all expertise on luxury air travel, thought I'd ask the experts.
Any ideas on what perks (lounge access etc.) might I be entitled to based my itinerary below?
  1. Melbourne - Kuala Lumpur
    1. Melbourne - Adelaide (Qantas Economy) 2hr transit
    2. Adelaide - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysian Business)
  2. Kuala Lumpur - London
    1. Kuala Lumpur - Dubai (Emirates Business) 1hr 45min transit
    2. Dubai - London Gatwick (Emirates Business)
  3. Rome - Dubai
    1. Rome - London Heathrow (British AW Economy) 1hr 45min transit
    2. London Heathrow - Dubai (British AW Business)
  4. Dubai - Singapore (Emirates Economy)
  5. Singapore to Melbourne (Jetstar Business)
I am just a Bronze FF with Qantas and don't hold any other FF memberships. I do have a few Qantas lounge invitations, which should get me into the Melbourne domestic lounge for the MEL-ADL leg, and Changi Qantas international lounge for SIN-MEL leg?

Really appreciate any feedback :)

1. Should have access to MEL Domestic J on the basis of the MH Long Haul flight, don’t need a pass.
At ADL it will be the QF Club
2. Plaza Premium at KL
3. BA Lounge at FCO again based on connecting same day to LH BA flight.
BA Galleries Business class North/ South/ B gates at LHR
4. DXB no lounge but I think you can pay into EK lounges
5. QF J lounge using your pass.

1. MEL - Use your lounge invite as you have suggested. Access due to your long haul flight being in J
2. ADL - The domestic QP. It is before immigration but that is pretty quick so no need to rush.
3. In KUL you can use the EK Plaza Premium lounge. If you are booked on a QF codeshare you may be able to access the MH business lounge too.
4. DXB - the EK J lounge closest to your gate.
5. FCO - You should be able to access the BA lounge as your long haul flight (LHR-DXB) is in J. This is a oneworld rule so you shouldn’t have to argue with them.
6. LHR The BA Galleries lounge closest to your gate (either north or south).
7. DXB - nothing unless you have a paid membership like priority pass.
8. SIN - again use a voucher.

Good luck!

Melbourne - Adelaide (Qantas Economy) 2hr transit
Lounge Access - Qantas Domestic Business Lounge

You won't need to use a lounge pass for access in Melbourne. Access granted based on later ADL-KUL boarding pass.

Oneworld rules allow those travelling on long haul business class access to lounges for connecting flights. Simply show your onward ADL-KUL boarding pass or itinerary for access.
"First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa)."

Adelaide - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysian Business)
Lounge Access - Qantas Club Adelaide

Access granted due to the fact that you're travelling in Business Class. Just show the MH boarding pass for access.

Kuala Lumpur - Dubai (Emirates Business) 1hr 45min transit
Lounge Access - Plaza Premium Lounge

Access granted due to the fact that you're travelling in Business Class. Emirates will likely issue a voucher or pass at check in to show the lounge otherwise just show your business class EK boarding pass.

Dubai - London Gatwick (Emirates Business)
Lounge Access - Emirates Business Class

Access granted due to the fact that you're travelling in Business Class. Just show the EK boarding pass for access. Note that emirates has 3 business class lounges in Dubai. You don't have a long time so pick the one closest to the gate.

Rome - London Heathrow (British AW Economy) 1hr 45min transit
Lounge Access - British Airways Lounge Rome

Same as the first flight, access will be gratned as FCO-LHR is short haul but onward is long haul business class, show both the FCO-LHR and LHR-DXB boarding pass.

London Heathrow - Dubai (British AW Business)
Lounge Access - British Airways Business Class Lounges London

Access granted due to the fact that you're travelling in Business Class. Just show the BA boarding pass for access. British Airways has 3 business class lounges in T5. Two are in T5A and the final one is in T5B (often quieter) but only go here if the onward flight is in concourse B

Dubai - Singapore (Emirates Economy)
No Lounge Access Here

There are numerous paid lounges you can purchase access to otherwise the Emirates lounge also allows paid entry for up to 4 hours at ~AU$276 (current exchange rate) to enter their business lounge or ~AU$473 to enter the first class lounge.

Singapore to Melbourne (Jetstar Business)
Possible Lounge Access - Qantas Business Lounge T1

Jetstar Business class does not include lounge access (unless you have purchased the max bundle). Now it is possible to use one of your invitations here however the big thing to note is the change of terminal required. The Qantas lounge is located in Terminal 1 whereas all Jetstar flights depart from T4 which requires a shuttle bus.

Terminal 4 is not connected to T1/2/3 at all and requires a shuttle bus both landside and airside. Whilst technically possible, you'd need to check in at T4 and then head airside before catching a shuttle bus to T1, then after visiting the Qantas Lounge take the bus back to T1.

However there is one exception to above, From 12pm until 8pm daily, Jetstar offer an alternative check in area at Jewel Early Check in (connected to T1). The catch is you must use this facility more than 3 hours prior to departure. So an example is you can show up and check in at Jewel 4 hours prior to departure, head air side into T1 and use the Qantas lounge followed by the shuttle to T4, although ideally you'll want to leave the Qantas lounge at least 1 hour prior to departure.

The Qantas lounge at T1 opens at 2:40pm and Jetstar offers early check in from 12pm so there is nothing stopping you from spending several hours in the Qantas lounge.

A couple there are not quite correct.

In MEL there is no need to use a pass due to onward flight that day in business class on a oneworld airline.

The other one is in KUL where regardless of being booked on a QF codeshare you'd never get access to the MH business lounge. Oneworld rules require flights to both be operated and marketed by a oneworld carrier, just being marketed is not good enough for oneworld (although just being QF marketed is good enough at QF operated lounges for business class or status holders).

Mine are the same as yours.
I think we are both correct.

This is perfect. Very detailed. Thanks @henrus

A two-part question so apologies as am not sure where to post this. We are flying ScootPlus (SQ flight number, TR metal) SYD-SIN then SQ SIN-MUC in Premium Economy on one PNR then have a separate redemption flight on LH in business class from MUC-BIO. I have TK Elite (*G) status but am also a KrisFlyer base member. I know we will not have any lounge access prior to our Scoot flight in Sydney but is it possible to earn Krisflyer miles for the Scoot flight (might as well if able) AND use my TK status to get into the Senator Lounge in MUC during a 5-hour layover? Currently all sectors to Europe have my *G status attached.

Thanks!

With 1:45 ~ 2:00 between scheduled arrival and scheduled departure, after allowing time to get off the aircraft, walk to~from lounge, security (if - when needed) and board the aircraft before the scheduled departure in my view will not be much time, if any, to enjoy a lounge. So 30-45 minutes. May be 60 minutes at most. Will not be 90 minutes. At some airports the distance to walk between gates/lounges can be considerable (or short). And would not waste a QF lounge invitation on a short visit is can be used before expiry on another trip.

I have a Aeroplan J ticket on EY, transiting AUH. I am VA Plat.

Will I be able to access EY AUH F Lounge, with my Aeroplan FF # (no status) on the BP, by showing VA Plat card, or will I have to change my BP FF to Velocity. If the latter, how might I do that, please?

Hi there, I'm a VA Platinum member and will be flying economy SQ278 ADL-SIN in a few days. SQ has clear rules for SilverKris Lounge access, however is a bit ambiguous on partner lounges such as the Plaza Premium in ADL.

Will I have access to the Plaza Premium and/ or VA lounge or neither?
Thanks

Hello AFF crew - sure this Q has been asked & answered before but my forum search ability wasn't up to the task!
Looking to take redeem an economy reward flight on the PER>MEL leg of QF09 later this year - my question is, as a Qantas Club member, if I'd be able to get into the Qantas International Business lounge on an economy ticket on this flight. I -think- so, if I am interpreting the rules of the Qantas official lounge access page correctly, but keen for confirmation for anyone who has done this. Follow up Q - I know as a Qantas club member you can bring in one guest into the lounge, but has anyone had any luck bringing in 1 adult guest & 1 child (5 yrs old). Thanks in advance

Yes you will have access to the Business lounge and as a Qantas Club member you can bring in one guest and up to two children.

As per Princess fiona
Yes,
All details here:

I have a Aeroplan J ticket on EY, transiting AUH. I am VA Plat.

Will I be able to access EY AUH F Lounge, with my Aeroplan FF # (no status) on the BP, by showing VA Plat card, or will I have to change my BP FF to Velocity. If the latter, how might I do that, please?
"Access only available when booked on an Etihad Airways operated flight.."

There is no caveat on whom to credit to in Velocity published rules, but who knows what may happen in AUH.

Yes, EY metal and EY flight #. Do you think I'll have to change the FF# on the BP from Aeroplan, the program redeemed on, to VA ... somehow? Or just flash a VA Plat card?
