JQ35 between Syd-Mel Gone this Saturday! - Any Clues?

Seems like the SYD-MEL leg of JQ35 was cancelled today due to the fact that the MEL-DPS leg was operated by an A332 in lieu of the usual 787. This means that there was no need to ferry/position the aircraft down from SYD.

Coincidentally, VH-VKA has not been in service since 5 August 2014 (and the aircraft is still in MEL). Maybe this is the 'engineering issue' that JQ was referring to in the OP's post?

Heaven forbid they were telling the truth?!

She was ferried empty from SYD to MEL on that day...so maybe something is going on. Pity as we were hoping to be on that particular plane.

looks like JQ35 may well an truly have met its demise...

i see from 11 Oct that JQ35 now runs MEL-DPS direct without the SYD tag - the 3pm SYD-MEL JQ flight is now an A320

imagine they either have enough demand on the route to avoid the positioning flight or have surplus 787s they need to get in the air!

Today's SYD-MEL service has apparently been cancelled.

My brief research shows JQ Flounge runs available from SYD-MEL on Tuesdays only in Nov and Dec, then Thursdays and Sundays next year, departing at 9:05am (so no massage option and you'd need to be the champagne breakfast type!).

The gold mine is MEL-SYD with options on Monday and Wednesday at 11:30am; and Wednesday and Saturday at 2:40pm in Nov and Dec. Then Monday 11:30am, Wednesday 12:30pm and Saturday 2:40pm next year.

So Melbournians can do the sweet Flounge weekender next year departing at 2.40pm Sat and returning at 9.05am Sun!

Almost enough reason on its own to get WP back.

From someone who has used JQ35, and will be doing JQ10 in a few days, (unless they cancel it on me), I can tell you that when I did the JQ35, it was full loaded.
And by the fact that a lot of people had the orange D stickered boarding pass, and not a lot were using Smartgate at MELi arrivals, there were no other domestic on international flights flights that day, there is a demand from people who are interested in flying JQ35...
a.as a test, domestic on an international flight, (ie, pick that flight because they wanted to be on that plane), ...
b.people who just have too much time on their hands, who did not choose that flight, but were on it...
c.other reason for having being on that flight
But to sum up, I think that there is a demand for that JQ35, and if JQ made it regular without cutting/cancelling it for what ever reason, they could make $ from it, maybe not a lot, but some. Probably this is why though, if they made a lot from this flight, all would be happy, if they made some money, they are probably not satisfied enough to provide JQ35, rather would put on a purely domestic 320 MEL - SYD/SYD - MEL.

Given the new timetable if u r Sydney based then get a JQ morning flight and return boarding pass for the Saturday 2.40pm
That way you can take as much time in Melbourne F lounge as u like
Works for me
( that is if u can get the return boarding pass in Sydney?????)

Return with a dom flight MEL to SYD of course, eh?
In theory, I guess anyone with an Aust passport can do this, (I have not tried this), but can you after using, (presuppose) that you have arrived in MEL on JQ35 from SYD on the am flight, and then, just by chance, there is another JQi going back the other way, MEL to SYD, can you go back to MEL JQi checkin, present passport for check in for the afternoon flight, getting another JQi dom pax on an international flight BP and then go Immi out processing, and present your BP with QP card for the J/F lounge in MEL, for the flight back to SYD that afternoon).
Would it ring any alarm bells.
Would be great if JQ35 came down to MEL, and another JQi went up to SYD, on clockwork.
I do realise that JQ35 and JQ10 are not daily services, so if for some reason you miss the JQi back, that's your ticket kaput.

16 Dec 14, JQ28, SYDi - MELi Aud$399 for J-add $80 for earn QFFF points and SC
going back can be done on the next day, so won't kick up any flags. Neither for immi or the J/F lounge.
17 Dec 14, JQ37, MELi - SYDi Aud$399 for J-add $80
Mmm, that would be school holiday time, so there will be a demand for it.
If the OP wanted to try the 16 & 17 Dec, it might work.
I am doing the 17 Dec final ADL to MEL, and get to MEL too late to do the JQ one on that day, but down the track, I will definitely do that JQ37 one day, to check out MEL J QPi.

07 Jan, looks wow, promising, if I had the $, I would do that one, J on the JQ 787.
JQ37 does (up to this stage) fly on 07 Jan 15.

Dom flights from Int terminals do not need a passport, drivers license will suffice, im not sure why a turnaround would be any kind of a problem although they might double check with you at check in its correct...
