JQ35 between Syd-Mel Gone this Saturday! - Any Clues?

I love a good loophole as much as the next guy but you cannot seriously think a domestic flight on an LCC is a valid entry for an intl Flounge. I think QF are the only airline in the world who allow this.

I don't but there are a few people who do utilise this benefit.

Well, looks like I will never be posting here again, no wonder theres so many lurkers.

I hope that you reconsider. When it comes to lounge access on JQ domestic flights there are some fairly strong differences of opinion on here.
I apologise if you interpreted my post as flaming you. I assumed that you had mentioned the "class action" as an extension of you being "really, really, pissed off" and that the cancellation seemed "criminal" to you.
I find it can be difficult to interpret the sentiment behind posts and I'm sure others do too.

Princess Fiona, that's one of the difficulties of the Internet generally. Not all of us like those gimmicky 'emoticons' or whatever someone in Sil. Valley named them.

It would seem the thread title needs to be updated.

Class action  'But judge- I don't care that there are 10 other flights that day from the domestic terminal- I should get intl Flounge access on my $49 ticket!!!'

Perhaps ensuring you have super cheap Flounge access on a domestic flight isn't a priority for QF?

I'm amazed they still allow JQ pax access. It's an unnecessary expense for an unprofitable business.

True to QF's business model I would be very surprised if JQ was ever billed for one of their passengers entering a QF lounge. By contrast I would not have been the least bit surprised if JQ billed QF for passengers accessing the then JQ OOL lounge, each and every time.

With respect, if you thought you were being flamed, then steer well clear of FlyerTalk. One of the true benefits of AFF is there is almost no flaming (certainly by comparison) and various views are for more respected.

Here, here. I hate them. Never use them on the internet, emails or text messages.

No, its not gone for ever, its just gone for the day in question.
If you go to 30Sep14, no help for the OP, that JQ35 still flies.
Of course, seeing that if they don't have enough bookings, they would most likely as in the case of OP cancel the flight, its not much confidence building on them.
And if you or the OP calls, most likely the call would go off overseas to the Philippines or India.

That JQ35/10/ etc, might be a dream to use, but to fly through the hoops to use international terminal, its a pain in the bum.
Ie, you CANNOT do OLCI, as you have to show your passport to check in staff to get a boarding pass, how do I know? I have done it. You can go to manage your bookings on JQ, but you cannot do online check in.
Checkin opens 3 hours prior to flight, so you have to line up with the other mugs, better be at the airport I DO REALISE/REALIZE the OP is not flying anymore on the date in question, but you have to there early.
Then within the 3 hours deadline to zero time, rush through Immigration and Customs Processing, and if thats not enough, go through International Security, no toothpaste etc LGA rules...
Then pass through the perfumery, where all those duty free people try to stop you, but you with a D in your boarding pass CANNOT buy duty free!!! Try telling them that.
Get to the F lounge, maybe 1.5 hours, keeping in mind you have to be at the gate 45 mins before, so you only have about half an hour in the F lounge...
Better to fly over to NZ on EK 380, for the real experience.
Granted the OP will have ExpressPath, but still, its quite a pain in the bum to use JQ35/JQ10, and its ilk.
NOT to mention on arrival into Melbourne, that you cannot use SmartGate, so have to line up in the Australian passport line, ... all the Malarke!

They have a clear purpose to convey meaning to words. Not using them risks misunderstanding. As such they are not gimmicky or decorative. And they are derived from symbols that have been used from the dawn of the internet, well I was certainly using them 19 years ago and they were in widespread use then.

Some people are just too serious, don't worry about them. Good idea to have a nice dinner in the F lounge with your wife on the way to spend a few days in MEL on her birthday. Sorry it didn't work out with JQ35 but you still have access to the F lounge on the way back so you will get to introduce your wife two different lounges on this trip (SYD J is also very nice). There is also better chance to score massage for both of you in MEL F :)

As a D passenger you're able to use one of the quicker queues - the crew line maybe? Or APEC? Can't remember, it's been a long time since I did this. But you don't have to use the "regular" queue.

That can vary - more than once I have found the D queue rolled into the standard queue.

My understanding is that JQ are charged per entry.

Its really not that hard. You don't need a passport, only your drivers licence. In SYD there is a line for D sticker pax, and again on arrival in MEL, so no waiting in long lines. You certainly get more than 1.5 hours, trust me. And I've never been at the gate 45 mins before either.

Due to Engineering Requirements your flight JQ35 09/08/2014 from Sydney to Melbourne has been cancelled.
We sincerely apologise for the disruption to your service today and the inconvenience this may have caused you. It is our intention to operate all services to schedule, however on occasion unforeseen issues can unfortunately cause a disruption.......

:D We all know why the OP's JQ35 got cancelled but lying about the reason for the flight cancellation is sailing a little close to the wind in my opinion. Would only take one inconvenienced smart cough lawyer with a point to prove for this to get fairly messy for JQ, especially if they had to present evidence of their "engineering issue" and explain how the aircraft flew empty and operated the next MEL-DPS service as per schedule...

From JQ's point of view they have done nothing wrong. You've paid for transport between SYD and MEL, provided they provide said transport around the time which has been arranged then they have forefilled their contract.

FWIW, I know quite a few people will actually do a SYD-AKL cheapy run to get FLounge access. Last FLounge run we went on there where a few in the group who where heading to AKL instead of MEL.

I'd agree with that. As long as you get there around the same time, not really a contractual issue.

There might be cause for a refund if you selected the flight for the purpose of flying the 787. Evidence of this would be that you purchased an international ticket (rather than the easier domestic option).

However, if the flight isn't taking pax, not a lot you can do about it. A change to a date where the flight is operating, FOC, would be appropriate.

Good luck with that...

I guess if you (or your partner) have never experienced the F lounge, fair enough. It is a nice experience.
However, I don't think it is worth booking a trip to AKL for or from the International Terminal just to experience the F lounge.

Emoticons (I thought) were designed to add emotion, not meaning.

A good writer should be able to convey meaning without the use of emoticons. If a reader can't work out the use of humour the writer hasn't done a good job. It is the job of the writer to remove ambiguity (if they wish to) through text. If something is not funny, or could be considered inappropriate, adding a '' doesn't necessarily fix the skills of the writer.

But writing skills are a broader issue.

The use of emoticons may have value where space is limited - for example text messages.

Please stick around. You are a WP so must have done a bit of flying so thus would have a bit of experience and knowledge to share. There will be a handful on these boards who despise those JQ flyers just because they utilise the F lounge once in a while (yet my money is on that those most critical, probably secretly utilise those JQ flights too). As a former WP I used the F Lounge on JQ domestic 3 times in two years you get sick of visiting the lounge pretty quick, especially when you lose a day travelling, spending time away from family & friends, needing to pass through the customs/immigration is annoying, and lastly, I don't really like flying, unless its long haul F.

Do stick around. There are a few grumps that bark at times - but most of what is on this forum is informative. You will find some people have strong opinions ( should I say prejudices) about particular airlines and practices. However, I am a strong believer in getting as much out of the flying experience as possible. The F Lounge is a real treat, especially for those who have only ever sat on the hard chairs in the terminal. So make the most of the trip and enjoy the food and wine. Using JQ at the international terminal to get access to the F Lounge is currently an option - so why not enjoy it.
